Nothing to be embarrassed about. You’re not the first honest seller to list a fake and you won’t be the last although we could nip a lot of problems in the bud if ebayers would post secondary market purchases here first prior to listing.
That holds for buyers too. If you bought it on ebay, sadly, you got ripped but it’s obviously been too long to do anything about it since you don’t remember where you bought it. Knowledge is power and you learned something new today so that’s good. 😀

Thank you! I was embarrassed for being duped that way, and then I got to thinking that I might not have bought this bag at the outlet store? I am an honest seller and would have never sold something dishonestly! I guess that I had better take a good look at my other bags although I must say I may not know the difference? This bag looked real to me.

Next time if I ever decide to sell another bag I will let you ladies take a look at it first.

👍
Sadly, some of the fakes have gotten so good that they need to be in hand to be called out but most can still be authenticated by pictures.
You’ve got great authenticators here for Coach. Other labels that have active authenticators include Dooney, Gucci, Vuitton and more. There are scarf pros, clothing pros, shoe pros, etc.
Not all fashion questions can be answered here but many can!

That's odd. You did say that you bought it at a Coach Outlet?
I've always thought that items bought from the designer outlets are authentic. I've been to a few Coach outlets in the United States and as far as I know items sold were genuine.
You would think that they would have to be authentic. So I must have purchased this one from Ebay. Ebay and the outlet stores are the only place that I have purchased my Coach handbags. And I have several. I'm sorry to say that I am not inclined to know the difference between fake and real. I will be more careful though from now on!! I did hate to think that I was scammed. And I feel like a fool defending this handbag that I in all conscience thought was real!

The OP DID say she bought it at the outlet, something we've heard countless times from sellers who've been caught with some of the most obvious fakes, fakes that don't take an expert to recognize as such.
And you're absolutely right. The Coach outlet stores sell authentic items.
And that's why she was called out on it.

Called out on it!! I did not know that this handbag was not authentic!! You can say what you want but I didn't know!!! It's going in the trash so forget it!! I don't know how you people can judge people that you do not know? I should have just taken Ebays word that it was fake and not even come here!! I will know better next time but oh there will not be a next time!!!

Why would I have come here with pictures of this handbag if I knew that it was a fake? I thought that Ebay made a mistake! As God is my witness I did not know!! And yes after I thought about it I could not remember where I purchased it. So I'm very sorry that I even asked you people to even take a look.

Rather than be so defensive, take this mistake and learn from it. We give hundreds (or thousands) of hours of free help here to those who are willing to come and learn.
The fact is that you did list a fake, knowingly or not. You were told in no uncertain terms that the bag is fake and that it definitely didn't come from the outlet store, something you insisted on in more than one post.
No one accused you of knowing that the bag is fake. No one accused you of scheming to rip off a buyer. And no one who responded to you was rude. In fact, the only person who was rude was you and your defensiveness.
Instead of attacking us, thank us for guidance and our willingness to help. If you ever have other items you want to list that you didn't PERSONALLY purchase directly from an authorized retailer, you can come here and politely request our help again.

I am sorry! I only became defensive when I thought that you believed that I would try to sell a fake. I realise that you do not know me and I was stupid to get so upset! I evidently purchased a fake handbag and didn't know it. But I was not trying to pull anything off on anyone. I would not do that. I guess it was my mistake thinking that I purchased this handbag at the outlet, I must have purchased it here on Ebay. But that was why I was so defensive I really did believe that it was authentic. Sorry!!

No one thinks you are a bad person. I have been buying and selling for many years on eBay, and I have been taken in more than once, to my chagrin. But I thank my lucky stars the day I found these forums. I have learned a wealth of information that has saved me from a bad purchase many times. My advice is to haunt these boards for opportunities to see for yourself some of the obvious things that scream “fake”. Without exception, the ladies (or gentlemen for that matter) who offer their time and expertise do so freely and generously simply because they want to help. They get nothing for their trouble, most of the time not even a simple “thank you”. So that’s my two cents worth, take it or leave it

Thank you! I have learned a lot.

You are so welcome! The expert folks on these boards will never steer you wrong!
