So I sold a Coach purse and the buyer is claiming it is a fake after receiving it. I know it isn’t because I was present when my Grandmother in law bought it for my Mother in law at the factory outlet in Pigeon Forge TN then she never used it.I put on my listing no returns but I want the buyer to be happy with their purchase, but I don’t think I should have to pay for return shipping. What should I do?

maybe the Coach experts here can authenticate the bag, and you can send your buyer here. If not, you accept the bag, issue her a return shipping label and refund in full when you receive it. if she opens a case,do not ignore it or Ebay will refund her, without returning the bag, and you will receive a major defect.

There is no such thing as no returns for a not as described complaint.

Did the buyer say why she thinks it's fake? Is it because there's no serial number on the creed?
There was a period from 2014 through 2016 during which Coach stopped stamping numbers on the creed patches. During that time, instead of the "serial number" being on the creed, they put it on a small white label buried (and very well hidden) somewhere inside the bag. Usually it's inside the zipper pocket, sometimes requiring you to turn the pocket inside-out in order to find it.
So far, the bag looks fine but that picture of the white label is necessary for an accurate determination.
If you have that picture or can request that the buyer post it, I can probably reassure her.

Here is what the buyer said the reason for wanting to return.
Sorry, but this is a knock off and not authentic. It is lacking the inside tag with the creed # and product #. I am aware Coach made some bags without the creed number on the leather tag but they place 2 tags in the inside zippered compartment with that info. This purse is lacking all...no creed on the leather tag and no inside tags in the change compartment. It is a knock off. Tooooo expensive for a knock off so it is coming back.

Thanks for the help!

I believe the buyer is wrong and is not feeling around enough to find the tag. (I can't count the number of times I've requested someone feel for the white tag with the production numbers, been told that it's not there and finally, after several days and attempts to find it, they locate it.
Again, if it's reassurance she wants, she should be able to feel around inside the bag, the lining and the pocket and find it. (Coach doesn't make it easy.) But it IS there!
PLEASE refer the buyer here (or she can google other purse forum authentication sites.
Here's an example from a Japanese seller's same bag:

I understand her concerns with the Coach bag because after more research it sounds very much so that Coach made it a big headache by taking the serial # off the creed. I didn’t know about any little hidden tags when I listed it but I sure would of taken a pic if I known. I will send her a link here so she can hopefully be reassured.
Thanks again.

We've said it many times and it's worth saying again. "The most consistent thing about Coach is its inconsistency."
The point is that unless on knows these bags inside and out, has an endless library of notes and images and has an **bleep**-retentive memory, it's impossible to remember all the (non) rules.

Yeah this bag was purchased almost 3 years ago during that time period of no serial # on leather creed label.
Thanks for the info.

I would pay for the return shipping if she even if she decides to return the bag after finding a tag inside. I would then re-list it, after posting a picture of the tag in this thread to help verify that it's real, in a BIN format (not an auction) at a higher price.
It's not worth the hassle and time involved to defend yourself if she opens a case with eBay.
