Here's to hoping we get a lot of chatters to post this month. This is your chance to talk about any old thing ... any subject you want.
This is a real transition month for us here in the Pacific Northwest ... the rain starts. We have had one good storm come through so far and there will be more as the month goes on. What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

Hey Rhonda ... nice to hear from you. That's awful that your daughter and her bf are going through such troubles. Hope you are able to control your stress level ... yes, it is so good to focus on what is under your control. Makes life a bit easier.
Cooler temperatures here in the Pacific Northwest too ... have family in the upper peninsula of MI ... are you near there?

Good morning everyone got myself back from where ever I been?
They put me under the sleepy stuff for procedures 3 times this week. My wife is feeding me like crazy now. She sure has saved my life a lot of times.
Can't remember much about what they did to me or results. Getting closer to 100 years old anyway.
So happy to see postings in here again. This group really means a lot to me. And when sending messages to others that are not here very often they miss being in here.
Going to start another topic about this in a few minutes please look for it.
Enjoy your day,
DWB

Glad your back from your procedures ... and la la land! LOL.
Sure am enjoying the cooler weather. It is a pleasant drizzly rainy morning here. Going to make authentic Italian gravy ... we call it spaghetti sauce. It will simmer all day ... then cool overnight and then into the freezer until the family gathers for dinner next sunday.

Ah Kate...you have put a major smile on my face! I am originally from New York City and we always call it sauce. I don't know what the determining factor is for calling it gravy or sauce but I know it's hotly contested. My relatives are Sicilian but I know Sicilians from NJ who call it gravy.
Thanks for the smile! Here's one back at ya!

Well, we made two batches of gravy/sauce ... the tomatoes really cooked down ... I will have to make two more batches in order to get enough for two dishes of lasagna. I have vegetarians in my family so I always cook a meat dish and a vegetarian version. My oldest son who is 40 ... he has been a vegetarian since he was 16. For a good long while he was vegan ... but he does like his eggs and cheese.
It is ever so much cooler and light drizzly rain ... perfect weather for puttering.

Thank you for the good wishes from everyone. Been hearing about the awards they gave me in the surgery center. Found some ways to really get all the staff in the surgery center laughing a few times before the surgeries each day.
One day I told them while they were in there digging around they would probably find a size 10-1/2 wide boot in there all crumpled up from one of my fathers missed kicks in the behind. The surgeon enjoyed that one the most.
2nd day I had Liz bring along a size 10-1/2 boot. Thanked them for removing it.
3rd day brought in one of those old taps (remember those?) with 3 nails. Thanked them for removing it and how much better I feel now.
Just starting to be able to eat and get food down. Feeling lots better now.
So your stuck with me and my long postings once again.

So glad your procedures are done DWB ... Liz told us about you getting an award for being the best, funniest patient. Way to go ... your sense of humor has gotten you far in life.
Not much new on this homefront ... quiet days ... drizzly rain and much cooler temperatures. It's nice.

All the food sure sounds great. Liz is always cookin up a storm too. We had a topic about recipes remember? It was a good topic.
She made Salmon Burgers last nite. On home made 7 grain bread. My gosh were they good. One of our friends gave us the fish he just got them.
Heading off to P/T physical therapy. Always create some laughs in there.
Take care,
DWB

Probably coming into apple season out there? We lived in the northeast apples this time of year were fabulous.
2 brand new baby deer out back here the past few days. They are adorable.

It's pumpkin season here...and hunting season. Fortunately hunting is against the law here in the Village. But it's open season everywhere else. It used to bother me but I've learned that around here everything that's killed is eaten so I don't feel so bad. I saw a piece on a local channel that talked about how some families depend on what they kill in the fall for their meat all winter. Sometimes it's hard to accept that people in the USA still live this way...and not necessarily by choice.

Hey all ... boy did we get rain yesterday ... torrential downpours that must have dropped an inch of rain in half an hour!
Our kids are coming over for lasagna dinner tonight ... the sauce/gravy was made from scratch with tomatoes from our little garden. Hopefully the lasagna will turn out good. Will let you know.

Pumkins and hunting in one area...........torrential rains in another area.
Seem to be related to food when you think about it.
The torrential rains always made the fruit get better when we lived in the north country like you are Kate. Also heard many others during my life who depend on what they can kill for meat to eat for a long time.
Plums are in season around here right now. They are perfect.
