Problem solving: Solutions/workarounds for your disability

I too became disabled at about 30yrs old ( mine due to messed up back surgery). When I got those comments I would just lift the back of shirt and show them the scars , shut them right up.
We shouldn't have to prove anything though, we have card. If I'm having a good day I park farther away sometimes too.
The thing that drives me crazy is when friends or family try to tell me about the latest greatest treatment for back pain, as if I wouldn't have already had if it done if it applied to my situation! I've lived with this for 14 years post surgery and a few years before that and have been to every specialist, healer, acupuncture, bio feedback etc... that there is several times over. There is no help for nerve damage due to an idiot Dr.
I know they mean well but I got really ticked one time when a morbidly obese friend kept going on after I told her thank you that it wouldn't help me. I asked her if she would like me to tell her about the new diets that are available to help her loose weight so she doesn't end up with congestive heart failure again, she'd been hospitalized twice. She of course got very mad and is no longer my friend.
Although she did show up unannounced at my door about 2 years after that conversation to show me that she had lost 60 pounds. I invited her in, congratulated her and never heard from her again.

I am in the same boat with 3 to 4 hours a day for physcial things.
In regards to shipping have you checked out priority zone boxes if you sell anything over two pounds Zone A it's a better price for the buyer.. There free and they deliver:) Also you can schedule pick ups too so you don't have to go to the post office. Price is by postal zone, check it out, if you need help just let me know.
Post office told me to never use flat rate boxes that they are a waste of money unless your shipping a 30 pound brick, even then maybe not.

I know this is a little old but I used to work at a Dentist office. We would have patients try the over counter guards first. You can get them at any store with decent pharmacy section. They are often also called sports guards.
Then if that didn't relive the pain then we made the expensive guard. It does seem like a lot of $ for a piece of plastic but there is a bit work and lab fees that go into, if they are done correctly. They may even have to adjust after you wear it.
Hope you're TMJ is doing better.

RE: jenmebe2
Really enjoying your postings.
You are so right about how we should not have to prove our disabilities to others.
Last year I created topics about things like this. Not sure how to find them with this new layout.
Another topic was about the many suggestions people have on what we should be doing about our disabilies. A neighbor told me to "hang yourself upside down".....
Enjoy your day,

We tried that USPS pick up the packages thing for awhile. It was ok problem here was they picked us up at 9 a.m. But as luck would have it they opened up one of those drop off package centers at the end of our street. So we drop them there at 4:30.
Ya can save lots of money on those zone Priority boxes. We ordered them on line and they were here in a few days. We like to use Stamps.com for printing labels. WE got a discount promo code C9CJQ FY9 It works good gets you a FREE scale and all sorts of other stuff.

I use the online label printing service. I used to go direct to the USPS site but I've found that these days it's the same price whether it's their site or ebay. For some reason the shipping calculator on my listings is usually way higher than what I actually pay to ship. I leave it up to the buyer as to whether they want priority or regular mail.

You may be getting a discount on your shipping cost. We get a discount with Stamps.com also. Helps pay for the packaging, tape etc.
Its real nice being able to see those end of the month withdrawels from our PayPal into the checking account. We use our Ebay proceeds for our big monthly Sams Club groceries. We have a couple friends who go with my wife on that day. They have a lot of fun going there and filling up the van. They eat there and have quite a fun time.

Yes, I am getting a discount. Have been for years. I sold another item and have decided that free shipping is the way to go for my motorcycle parts. So I upped the price, and am offering free shipping for first class mail.
Only 2 more feedbacks and I will be at 6000. It's been an elusive number but I'm not giving up!

6000 Feedback sure is a monumental accomplishment. Congratulations. Maybe we should all take a guess on the date you will reach 6000.... going to start a topic asking this.
We tried FREE shipping a few times. Works for some items and not so well for others. One thing that works for us is FREE shipping on their 3rd item and all the rest above that. You gotta be careful with this one though. If its a big item you need to un-check the "combined shipping box". Cause you may get stuck with FREE shipping on a big item otherwise.
Lots of FREE listings lately. Helps a lot.

I'm only offering it on 1st class. Haven't listed anything large lately. I'm planning on putting up as much of the remaining motorcycle parts I have tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Sounds great I see you have 2 listings. Nice pictures good job.
If you any small things around your place you don't want they sell good here on Ebay. We sell the most amazing things.
We had a drawer with match book folders in it. We used to save them from all the places we went to. So we took the matches out of them by unclipping the staple. And listed them 1 at a time on Ebay. Every one of them were bid on and sold the first week. Some went for 3 or more $ each. Very easy to mail out in a normal envelope.
WE had some old postcards around the same way. Old places we went. Sold them the same way.
Our junk is another persons treasure.
Good luck with your sales,
DWB

I've actually got two or three moving boxes of things to sell. They are antiques and I'm waiting for the economy to settle down and for prices to go up. The motorcycle parts are my first priority. I've sold about half of them and don't want to drag them with me out to CA.

Got a quick question. I'm trying to use Turbo LIster on my new computer. IT's Windows 8 and TL keeps crashing. Any experience with the newer versions of Windows and TL?
