Wards Spitfire Flamethrower Information

I am curious to know if this Item is valuable at all and what it would be worth. What year is it from? One was for sale for $50 online but it looks way newer. Any information would be appreciated. There is no information at all on this item.

Re: Wards Spitfire Flamethrower Information

I'm not sure what your question is.  The label tells you everything you need to know about this.  It's an old (Montgomery) Wards kerosene flamethrower.  It's in what is probably dangerous condition, as far as using it, but if you can safely clear out any remnants of kerosone (aka coal oil, in Canda, or paraffin in England), I suppose some guy might like it as manly decor.

As for dating it, you know that the real Montgomery Ward went out of business about 20 years ago (although they sold the name to someone who does catalogue sales using it), so it's older than that.  Actually, I'd say it's from the 1960s - 1970s.

This sort of flamethrower now more commonly, at least in the U.S., runs on propane, which is handier and cleaner to use.

Re: Wards Spitfire Flamethrower Information

At the risk of sounding flippant...  it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it.  And keep in mind that,  as it is a hazardous item, it should not be shipped  so your market is reduced to "local pick-up only."
