Anyone know what this is? Momma got this for me from an antique dealer. She is mounted on an Art Deco style piece of black marble. Looks kind of like an old hood ornament but is quite large to be that. She measures about 10" high (not including the bass) x 20" long (spear) end to tip. She looks like she's been crowned and the whole piece is quite heavy and finished on both sides. Any ideas on what this may be others in a weird piece of art? Thanks. Nan

Wow! That's some gift!
"This figure was designed by Marcel-André Bouraine and produced in France in 1925. It is made from bronze and silvered bronze."
From this link, which is provided for reference only:
Check if yours is signed.

nothing weird about it. it is the sculpture "Amazon" by Marcel Bouraine. If not signed I would guess it is a repro rather than an original casting.

sorry for stepping on toes, typing is slow

Just a word of caution... I can see some stylistic differences between the figure on the linked page and your item, so yours may be a derivative piece (and less valuable). But check for a signature.

Thank you so much for the information! So far we have not been able to find a signature on it so it may be a reproduction rather than original casting. What would the value of a reproduction be? Mom pay $200 at a yard sale from an antique picker. She wants to know if she got ripped off? I still think she's fabulous. Nan

I honestly wouldn't have much of a clue as to value - clearly it's still a nice decorative item and I'm pretty sure that if you were to offer it for sale there would be people who would want it. $200 seems a fair enough price to me, but I wouldn't expect to make much of a profit on it. Certainly a great thing to own, though, and to have on display.
