My husband has had this bottle for a long time. He felt he had found info about this bottle years ago and it was valuable. The information is long since gone. Any help would be appreciated. There is a etching on the bottle. What language is this and can someone tell us what it says?

If you don't get an answer here, you might want to try posting to the Pottery, Glass, and Porcelain board, as well:

What? You mean it wasn't perfectly obvious to go Community > Groups > eBay Categories > Pottery & Glass > Pottery, Glass & Porcelain. (In other words, it isn't your or the device you're using that's the problem.)

It wasn't rude. Maxine was being mock-serious. She was poking fun at how difficult it is to find different boards/groups in this place.

Hello- Nice bottle! The shape and decoration remind me of Stiegel glass. They were often etched and/or decorated with enamel. Try Googling "Stiegel type bottles" and you might get lucky and find one similar to yours.

Hi again: Here's a link to a similar bottle that was offered on eBay (UK). It's decorated with hearts instead of flowers. But the shapes are almost identical.

I'm coming across references to these as "bride's bottles," which means nothing to me. Is this a term you're familiar with?

To be honest I've never heard them referred to as bride's bottles...but it does make sense. I imagine these bottles were often given as gifts for special occasions. And then became family keepsakes. I am somewhat familiar with bride's boxes- which were also popular gifts in German and Scandinavian cultures during the same time period. They also were heavily decorated.
