Is one better than the other?
Probably the only way to decide is to visit the Musee de Cluny to view the original and then look at the copies. I suspect a woven copy would be better as it is imitating the original materials, structure and textures but the colour matching of the threads would have to be very good and that is a costly and time taking skill. Both copies rely on fooling the eye with beautiful illusions but as with a print of the Mona Lisa we know they can't be the real thing. Both are somewhat expensive items of home decor but as they are copies can be displayed without worrying too much about light fading whereas the original is in the highest category of rare art, a miraculous survival.
Search French sites for reproductions and see what they are asking now. I think there will always be a demand for such pretty wall hangings.
