I'm having trouble identifying this table... I guess it would be considered chippendale-style, and it's similar to some that were produced by Maitland-Smith, Baker, and Bradnt, but I can't identify it for the life of me. The only mark is a 72 on the bottom. Any help is appreciated!

I would say quasi- Chippendale factory furniture c. 1940s onward. Close ups of the underside or any lables would confirm that.

The kind of thing found in a nice middle class home, post World War II.

Thank you. Any opinion on the maker? 72 maybe means it was produced in 1972?

Thanks Debora, I'm mainly trying to figure out the maker. The only mark on the bottom that hasn't worn off is the 72. I was't sure if a number with just two digits meant anything, or if this particular design might ring a bell with someone more experienced at this sort of thing.

So, is the "72" carved or burned into the wood, stamped or stencilled, hand-written, on a paper label, what? It might help to know. (Although, honestly, I doubt you'll ever find the maker or that it would make a significant difference to the value if you did.)

The 72 is carved, almost definitely not by hand.

Again, "Close ups of the underside or any lables would confirm that."
