Clark Gable Jacket - Can anyone help identify the film in which this may have been worn in?

Hi there,

Can anyone be so kind as to help me identify which MGM film this costume was apart of.

The label has the name Cl.Gable (i'm presuming this must have been Clark Gable) and beneath it the numbers 1056-4554. Ive come to understand that these numbers are an in house reference, that will allow me to identify which MGM film production this costume was apart off. However after hours of research i still do not know how to do this?

If anyone in the know could help me I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance

I'm glad I could help but it worries me that it somehow went from a $5,850 sale to 2nd hand/vintage clothes with no one being aware!

The Internet Archive stores snapshots of old webpages. On October 28 2012 the jacket was newly for sale:

But by January 6 2013 it had been sold:

So it was sold over 7 years ago. Time enough for it to change hands, for owners to die, for papers to get lost, etc.

What is most strange about it is that we are in the middle of the UK. Have no idea how it ended up here..
