Antique German Belsnickel or Cheap Wannabe

When on a recent treasure hunt, I purchased a box of vintage Christmas items . . most from Hong Kong. This was part of the LOT.  I threw him in w/ the dancing Santa and rubber faced Santa LOT and billed him as "Grandfather Gnome for your fairy garden" figuring that would be the only way I'd send him off  to his next home. Then I get a message from a seller who says it's possibly an antique German Belsnickel. I was wondering why I actually had 111 views and 4 watchers when the majority of my stuff has 0 views and obviously no watchers. I took the listing down (this was on one of my other seller ID's) and am asking ya'll.  In his sitting position, he's 4" long. His body reminds me of chalkware in that I've seen the same wear on the noses of Nativity chalkware DSC09016 (2).JPGDSC09017 (2).JPGDSC09018 (2).JPGDSC09019 (2).JPGfigures I've sold. The clothes are felt. Thanking you in advance for your expertise.

I can't help with the ID but it was certainly very gracious of that seller to let you know instead of just grabbing it.
