This is absolutely possible.  For quite some time, sellers have reported that old listings, sold listings, have mysteriously been relisted without the seller doing so.

So yes, it is entirely possible that is what happened here.

These are called "ghost listings".

The others may be right, tis could have been a hijacked account or a ghost listing. Did you check the sellr's feedback profile before bidding or buying?  If there was little or no activity for over a year especially as a seller, the account was probably hijacked or hacked.

This was a power seller, don't know what happened,
refunded amount received. Just wondered if eBay
cares at all....at the end of the day, stuff happens I guess
