Hello, I wanted to buy two items at the same time from a seller, I would like to combine the shipping fee and maybe ask for a discount, that's why I get to the request total page.
It said:
To combine shipping costs for your items, you can request a new total from the seller
I read the page thoroughly, and this is the information it said how it works.
it also had a column to send message to the sellers, where I asked for a discount and combine shipping fee.
After I've done my request, a new page popped up, telling me ebay can't complete my request right now, just as the attached photo showed.
I thought there maybe something wrong happened to the system and I did it 3 times to 2 different sellers. What a shame.
Several minutes later, I noticed that although the web page told me my request can't be completed, I am still committed to buy the objects.
After connecting to ebay's customer service, the official reply is as the following:
"these items are joined in Global shipping program, so seller can not send invoice."
I am wondering if the process of "request total" is not work properly as the "Here's how it works" told me (since the seller never got my message), and the system also clearly, directly told me the request can't be completed, am I still obligated to fulfill my commitment?
As for the latest follow up from the customer service, they do think so, but I just don't feel right. It would be very helpful of you to tell me how to get off from the situation. Many thanks.

Did you try another browser? Did you contact the sellers to see if they can do anything from their end?

Unless my information is outdated i used the global Ship
I was never able to invoice buyers
any discounts I gave were in the form of a partial refund
That said
I would advise contact the seller with your request

- If possible, ship all items in a single order in one package
I think that means all items in one listing, Not 2 or more purchases. There has never been a way to combine shipping with GSP,

I have checked ebay community and there was one similar question two years ago. The best solution it applied, quote "it where they don't combine shipping the request total button is greyed out and not clickable. "
I totally agree. The failure of the system is the GSP shipment does not allow buyers to send message to sellers and ask for request total.
However, the fact is the buyers still can click it and proceed partial of the process, except it only means "buy it now", and not able to cancel the orders after then.
They really should grey the button out for GSP shipment. For more then 2 years, God knows how many others suffer the same lost.

There's nothing to do with the browser, it is because of the system failure.
It allows buyers to proceed request total process at the cart, but the process can't complete, the sellers never got invoice, but for the buyers, it simply means "Buy it now" and never have another chance to cancel it.
Actually I do contact the sellers immediately, but apparently I failed to convince them, and one of them begins the no-paying bid process.

Don't buy from GSP listings as it is not possible.
Also sellers do not even have to consider combining purchases.
You should ask sellers BEFORE committing to buy if the combine shipping for a discount.

Sellers can't send an invoice for shipping when it's in GSP. You're obligated to pay the sum total of all the purchases. BUT MAYBE NOT,,,,,,
Items in GSP can sometimes be shipped together, if
The Cart function is used.
The buyer checks out with one payment.
The entire transaction (all items) fit within the weight and dimensions for GSP packages.
Go to your cart to pay.

The seller does not have any way to invoice or to change the shipping on gsp items and there is no way to combine shipping cost for the domestic portion of a gsp order. However, when you use the cart, the international shipping cost is automatically combined.

If a buyer pays for the gsp order all at once, the order should be shipped together. As mentioned earlier, the international shipping cost will automatically be combined. The domestic shipping cost cannot be combined.

did you ask the seller if they gave a combined shipping discount before you purchased the item? By asking after the fact the seller has zero motivation to give a discount and asking for one can be used for grounds to cancel the transaction. Nothing wrong with asking but the asking has to be done before the purchase is made
