"Request Total" duplicated items in my cart

I went to request a total for shipping for 5 items earlier tonight. When I submitted the request, it very clearly only had the 5 items I was attempting to purchase. After submitting the request, however, I went to my purchase history and it's now showing a request for 10 items total (2 of each of the items I was trying to buy).  When I went to contact the seller about this, my cart went back to showing only 5 items, but when I clicked into the cart, it shows 10 again.  Purchase history is still showing 10 total as well.

Has anyone had this happen to them before? I've contacted the seller to ask them to cancel the duplicate items, but it doesn't seem like there is any other way to correct this issue on my end.

Remove the items from your cart.

Log out.

Log back in and purchase the 5 items you want.  Pay seller. System will give you total due.

No need to request total.

@meanspirit what does "Commit to buy & submit request for a new total" mean?

But I did need to request the total? It was for an adjustment to shipping, so the seller states in their description to "request a total" for combined shipping.

The answer you provided doesn't quite answer my question/problem, which is that upon requesting the total and committing to buy, my purchase history is showing double what I ordered.  I can't delete anything from my cart because it's already saying I've committed to buy the 10 instead of 5 items.

I know it's the obvious answer, but could you have possibly, accidentally, clicked on the "request total" link twice? It's either that or a glitch in your cart that I've not seen it before.

And I'm sure you've already tried logging out of eBay and clearing all your cookies, etc., and even shutting down your device and restarting.

I think your request for a cancellation is, at this point, your best option. Hopefully, the seller will respond soon--they may not monitor their messages 24/7.

Good luck! Come back and let us know how this turns out . . .

I've had that issue~items doubled when added to the cart.  There was no way they could be removed.  Seller and I had to start all over again.  I think she cancelled it, and I just went in and bought each one separately and she refunded the difference.

Completely understand your point, but I definitely didn't click request total twice. The only thing I can think of is that my internet connection has been spotty recently, so I wonder if that had anything to do with it. I noticed that it took longer than usual to move from the "request total" page to the confirmation that I'd committed to buy the items. That's the only abnormality that came into play, however.

Logging out and all that jazz didn't do anything - since I'd "committed to buy" the items, they all were still in my cart, unable to be removed.

Thankfully the seller was understanding when I explained the situation and cancelled the order so I could place the order for the 5 items again. Thankfully requesting a total for combined shipping the second time around did not lead to double the items showing up.

Yep, sound exactly like what happened to me! Thankfully my seller was nice enough to cancel the order as well.

Oh, gosh! Good thing the OP didn't have to do that!

Maybe the difference was that the OP's items didn't double when s/he added them to the cart--they didn't double until s/he requested a total (for combined shipping), so it wasn't really the same issue, at least according to what s/he posted originally. When the seller cancelled the order, all the buyer had to do was add the five items to the cart and request the total again, and, thankfully, it worked correctly the second time!

Gotta love it when a glitch is resolved to everyone's satisfaction!
