problem with back button on item page

when going thru individual items, the bak button is not working. this causes me to go back to the sectiom home page and start  another search from the beginning instead of just going back  to the iyem listing and continuing on to the next item. Also at times this problem kicks me out of ebay entirely making me log in again ( and I really hate it when I have to go thru that security program stating Im not a robot). PLEASE fix the problem.

Isn't eBay opening a new tab when you select an item? This allows you to close that tab without needing to go back to the previous screen, which is also open. I didn't like this change at first, but the nice thing about it is that you can resume your search from the first tab right where you left off, and can have multiple tabs open for side-by-side comparison.

While the problem could be a glitch, it hasn't been reported by others on these boards. If you spend a lot of time online with your computer, phone, tablet, you may need to clear your temporary internet files and cookie cache, then restart your device.  Too many files and cookies can cause issues on many sites.

I've noticed the change as @casprrr has. Yes... no more back button, just close the window and carry on. Good luck.

The dumbest at eBay do not bother to fix this problem, still no back option on the same page you have to close the tab to get back where you start.

Hey dummies did you hear about this invention on the mouse where you click one button and you go back to where you start on the same page? I guess not because if you do you will fix it. People here asked you a thousand times to fix this but you still ignore all of us. I know I waste my time writing this but maybe some smart pants there will do something about it. Using the back button only works if you are opening links in the same browser tab. If links are opening in a new tab, there is no page to go back to; you must close the browser tab or go to the previous tab to reach the point that you left off on that page.

If you do not want eBay item links from search results to open in a new browser tab but instead open in the same browser tab, from your search results go to the top right of the page where you can select list or gallery view and select the "customize" option and select the option to open the item page in the same tab rather than a new tab.

I don't see opening to view on a new page as a problem. Just as much work to close that new page as to hit the back button. 🙂 In fact, if sending a message to seller or reporting, don't have to  back through a number of pages to get back to listing page, just close the one.

The problem isn't just in the app. I have Ebay on my PC and when I click on an item there's no longer a back button. This really **bleep** me off as I now have to select the original screen.

The back button is a feature of your browser.

You may not see an active back button if you open links in a new tab; in that case, close the tab to go back to the previous tab where you left off. Or change the setting so that item links open in the same tab as shown above, and the back button should operate as before.
