not received item empty envelope

i purchased a gold necklace for £850 to receive an envelope with nothing in it on the 15/8/19

i sent in the police report form to ebay to which i got a response from ebay saying..

I appreciate your efforts on providing us the Police Incident Report.

I have reviewed the case details and I see that the case is still in Seller Makes It right period. When a return request is opened, we give 8 days to the seller so that they can resolve your issue. If they fail to issue a full refund to you within these 8 days, you can escalate the case to us on 26/08/19 and we will instantly issue a full refund to you.

i have spoke to ebay on these following days

27/8/19 as no payment to wait 24 hours

28/8/19 no payment wait 48 hours

30/8/19 no payment wait 72 hours

2/9/19 no payment said they would pay today

3/9/19 still nothing they have now put a hold on my case

Your case was placed on hold temporarily. We will get back to you with an update by 06 Sep, 2019.

You might want to wait a 2 - 3 more days in hopes that eBay will resolve this for you.  If resolution does not happen, I hope you paid by either PayPal, a credit card or both.  You can also file a dispute with PayPal or your credit card company.  Explain your correspondence with eBay and your police report that you have.

Good luck.

@stantheman2104,

You made an offer on a very expensive item from a seller who sells mostly hand made baby clothing. While they have sold some other items that were a bit expensive (a video game console, a French sofa and a few other things) this was by far the most expensive item they've ever listed.  The description and photos were very lacking in detail, without a photo of the Kt.stamp that should have been on the item.

I'm guessing the reason for the delays is that the seller is claiming their account was hacked. They have been selling fairly steadily for at least the last year, but now have nothing listed. That is a possible indication that ebay has pulled their listings until the matter has been settled.  My guess is you saw this listing at what was a bargain price, made an offer that was accepted for about $1K less than its value, and jumped on it without thinking.

As was written before you may have 3 layers of protection. Each of which will require some investigation, but eventually you will get a refund.
