good seller - scammer

a seller sent an item to me, provided tracking number. Package arrived in correct city but somebody else signed for it. After checking with Fedex, package was delivered correctly but to different address and to somebody else.  Seller told me that package was delivered and to check with neighbors. When I requested to show info regarding shipping address they stopped responding to my messages. Item was listed to be located in NJ but after asking when it will be shipped- it was shipped from OH and person sending messages is in CHINA. I asked Fedex to provide me with official statement to get the scammer banned from Ebay but they did not want to talk to me. FYI. seller has 100% positive feedback with 300 items sold.  In the past I was able to talk to live person.

When you file a claim on eBay for item not received AND there is confirmation of delivery of something to somewhere you will lose.  The customer service reps you get on eBay via chat or call back will be useless.  Typically, eBay has required a WRITTEN document from the carrier declaring that the package was not intended for you in the first place.

You can try one more time with eBay by contacting them through one of the social media portals, and asking them what exactly they will accept (even though you already know) and see what they do. There is a chance they will help you (i.e. this is the 30th complaint against the seller and it has been costing eBay money or some such)   Otherwise if you can get the information they require, they don't have to pay you.  The Money Back Guarantee will be a fail.  Use the blue message button on this page:

If you get thrown under the bus, you can try PayPal, but DO NOT FILE Item not received.  They have a new choice "shipped to wrong address" .   Same goes if you end up going to your credit card...do not file INR, but make it clear it is a FRAUD/Fake Tracking Scam issue.   Otherwise, an item not received claim will be forwarded to eBay, and they will respond with the same phony delivery confirmation.

This scam is nothing new. There are posts about this almost every day, with some going back to 2013.

Here is one from yesterday, that also mentions an alternative you have with eBay PRIOR to giving up and moving on to PayPal or your credit card:

Check your order details to make sure the correct address appears there. That is the address the seller is required to ship to.

Contact the shipping service to determine if the tracking number you received was for a package that was addressed to you.

Good advice for dealing with false tracking can be found in the marked solution to this thread:

Perhaps the seller is drop-shipping and has recently gone into business with a new supplier, and the new supplier is actually a scammer providing false tracking.

@a2gtinut,

When you posted this about 2 weeks ago, had you looked at the seller's feedback profile and told us the seller was actually located in China that would have explained what happened. Actually their username is decidedly chinese.  I just looked at the seller's feedback profile and there are 6 positive comments about Fed Ex delivering to the wrong address on that page alone, because posting a negative after an INR  dispute is closed in the seller's favor cannot be done. The 5 neutrals they received should all be negatives as well.

If you try contacting ebay through the social media outlets ask the rep if they will accept a screenshot from the FedEx Delivery Manager. which you can sign up for, and  I believe shows the label address and package type/size/weight, which can be helpful if it is not appropriate for what you ordered.

If you buy on ebay again, Check the seller's feedback profile page, first look at the seller's country of registry, then click on the numbers of neutrals and negatives, to read only those comments, and even scan their positive comments, and never go by a feedback percentage alone. If the seller gives a U.S. location but is registered in China hit the back button.

After contacting BBB Fedex provided me with official statement regarding my address and tracking not matching. Prior to this I used screen shots from fedex but ebay responses was "this is not official and not a proof". last week i have contated ebay again regarding this seller to inform them that item i purchased came back to listing and many expensive tool were added. This was enough to put more focus on this seller and within day, i hope it will banned and should get my money back. For years I have purchased bicycle parts from Taiwan without any issues. Few of the sellers claim to use third party logistics in USA(forwarding ?) in the same town Perth Amboy NJ. What is known to me that there is aliexpress forwarder at 1000 High Street Perth Amboy
