ebay enabling Scalping causing normal consumers to be unable to buy products

Scalping is unethical because it artificially marks up items over their actual value, barring anyone but the ultra-rich from something that should be available to normal consumers. Please ban the sale of scalped goods resold within the first 6 months of their release. eBay will not necessarily be monetarily rewarded for doing so, but it is the right thing to do and eBay's consumer base will know that.

Because of eBay's active promotion of scalping by serving as an open haven for scalpers, I am unable to build a computer that needed the latest graphics cards. Graphics cards on eBay are ranging from 20%-100% price markup relative to what sellers charge for the item new.

Please end scalping eBay, and please do not shift the blame.

As someone mentioned earlier tech moves so quickly that this year's latest and greatest will be supplanted by next year, and really is there a big enough difference between last year's product and the new one? Is last year's graphic card significantly faster or sharper than the newest one, and will that matter if your placing it on a computer with and older display screen?   If most people are happy with last year's card, buy those at a much lower price.

Exactly. You can put the fastest card out there in your computer, but if you have a 6-7 year old monitor, what good will it do?

Geez, from the title I thought this was going to be about something important, useful and necessary like food or health care products or household cleaning products ::cough::Lysol::cough::.

Contrary to what all these product advertisers try to tell you, you WILL survive your life without the latest and greatest gadget. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY NEEDS the latest and greatest anything when it comes to all these tech electronics and computer gadgets.

If you WANT one, buy one. Pay whatever price is charged.  If you don't have enough money, save up for it. Trust me when I say you'll appreciate it a lot more when you do this.  Or, you can wait until the price comes down, which will be very quickly because these tech companies have people hooked on the idea that they have to have the latest and greatest doohickeys. Meanwhile, the SMART people buy later when the price has dropped significantly. They get what they want and save a bundle because they don't fall for the hype.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

We seem to be getting closer and closer to a situation where nobody is responsible for what they did but we are all responsible for what somebody else did. - Thomas Sowell

"Scalping is unethical because it artificially marks up items over their actual value,"

No, the actual value is whatever the buyer is willing to pay. To put it another way, the seller sets the price, the buyer decides the value.

You are upset because other people place a higher value on an item than you can afford, and you want ebay  to force sellers to lower their prices to where you want them to be?

If I have something that will sell for $1500 and you demand that I sell it to  you for $1000, then you are insisting that I reach into my wallet and hand you $500.

The last time I gave that much to someone, it got me the best night of my life. I doubt if you can match that.

Let’s make a deal - I’ll support you in your quest if you agree to always pay a certain profit margin to each and every seller.  No seller should ever be under a certain profit margin.  Even if you find something cheaper, you can’t take that offer - we’ll fix the market together.  Every time you find something in the clearance bin of a retail store, I want you to march up to customer service, and proudly state that you demand to pay full price.  Otherwise, you are just being greedy.

Agreed. I no longer shop on eBay for that very reason. You can’t find deals on here anymore. It’s all overpriced scalped goods that were purchased via a bot. I don’t know why people still shop here.

I don't mean to be 'That' guy but the A store at least they used to crack down on this once something is reported when the Mr B guy was in charge. More then half the crap going on here in Ebay had zero tolerance though I'm slowly seeing that change for the worst.

They can't be everywhere at once but usually when enough complaints come in they step in and more often then not the company doing the scalping is mysteriously gone and your greeted with a funny page not found.

Very rarely I got broken items but the few times I did it was reported and a month or two later those sellers were suddenly nowhere to be found.

Especially since 'Bidenomics' are working out so well. (snark snark) scalpers are a slap in the face to the rest of us.  I fail to get why gamers are so wrapped into this or that and don't realize how bad things are outside of their little bubble?

How come all those YouTube videos of builds all think everyone has 1,000$ of spare change lying under their couch?
