eBay won't let me check out with PayPal or debit/credit when using a coupon

Anyone else getting this? I received a $5.00 off coupon that I want to use, but apparently I can only use it if I check out with a debit or credit card instead of PayPal. Okay fine, but when I do that, I get told my payment cannot be processed and I can't purchase the item. I tried adding the coupon to PayPal, but I couldn't because I guess I can only add cards.

I just want to buy this thing before the coupon expires! Is there a way to fix this?

Is this the "FIVEOFF4U" coupon? Is the item you're trying to purchase one of the (many) excluded ones listed on the coupon? If so, it could simply be that having the coupon code entered into the payment screen is what's stopping them from processing your payment.

That's the one. I figured the item I'm trying to buy was eligible because the coupon code came attached to an email linking directly to that item. I figured being told "HEY YOU SHOULD BUY THIS HERE'S $5" directly meant it was something I could buy with the coupon.

What I'm trying to buy seems to be eligible. I'm not trying to buy real estate, money, coupons, gift cards or cars (it's eyeshadow). I am trying to use it in a single transaction only on this item. The item meets the minimum price requirement. I tried to purchase the item by adding it to my cart rather than via bidding or best offer because neither of those was an option for this specific item. I've been registered on eBay for many years and have made a lot of purchases, my card is listed on here and it's current, I live in the US and I have a US shipping address to which I've had many things delivered from eBay.

The coupon seems to be applied when I choose my debit card to finish shopping, but then I get an error about my payment not being processed. Does the coupon apply to US-based items, by chance? Because I'm trying to order from a Korean seller, which I've never had an issue with in the past.

I believe my coupon said only available to US users.

I wonder if the Credit Card they want you to use is the eBay Credit Card?

I have the same problem. I guess they don't want people to use the coupon.

Update: I think my issue may have been with the location of the seller. I think maybe the coupon can only be used for domestic purchases because I bought something else from a US seller and used the coupon just fine (along with my personal debit card, not eBay's credit card). I don't know why they couldn't just tell me that was the reason instead of cryptic "your payment cannot be processed" messages.
