I bought two eBay gifts cards yesterday, one with $200 and the other with $60. I tried to buy something for $110 with the $200 gift card, but it kept giving me the error saying to check my payment method or to change it. Eventually I was able to use it by adding my debit card through the settings. Then I tried to buy another thing with the gift card, and it gave me the same error. I don’t know why it’s doing this. I’ve never had trouble with eBay gift cards until now.

Some items cannot be purchased with gift cards (see terms of service). What were you trying to purchase?

Depending on how long after purchasing the cards you tried to use them, they may not have been fully registered yet. eBay says it can take up to 4 hours for them to be verified. However, some store's card payment processors do not transmit payments immediately, they do it a few times a day even though a payment was verified by the reader, so it can take longer for ebay to verify the balance. Try it today.
Open the link below and look for the gift card balance site link in it.

I had trouble buying a tv until it eventually went through last night. And then today I tried buying a tv antenna pre-amp and it eventually went through today. I didn’t have any trouble buying a tv remote and some headset earpiece covers. I had contacted a representative and I think they may have fixed the issue. I am not sure yet because I left both of my gift cards at home.

So it was a delay in the verification process, and not a problem with the card or ebay. Trust me no ebay rep you spoke or chatted with had the power to do anything about the problem. Those reps do not work for ebay, but for a 3rd party Call/Chat service. If you looked up an ebay customer service phone number online, you may have given account info to a scammer. The only way to talk to a rep is to request a call back, there is no direct dial customer service phone number any more

How long does it normally take for the gift card to be verified on eBay to make purchases?

There was no actual "issue" to fix.
