I’m trying to buy from a seller with 100 and a star next to their user name.
but it says zero positive feedback
after I looked a little deeper I found good feedback on their account as both a seller and a buyer.
why doesn’t it show up with their user name ?

The feedback score is based on the last 12 months. If you look, you'll likely see that all of their feedback was left more than a year ago.
Don't know what you're trying to purchase, but I would be cautious if it's a high-dollar item. Inactive accounts can be hijacked.

Especially if it's 'too good of a deal to pass up'.
If so, pass it by.

Is what they are selling now, what they were selling and/or buying before?
A change in category (say from selling used baby clothes to high end watches) would be a red flag.
You may not be able to see titles of previous transactions, but look at the products they were buying.

I would be wary of buying from a seller who has (0) feedback in the last year. It could be a hijacked account as kathiec mentioned, though most of those scammers would make a purchase to bring back the account's feedback number. A lower than trending price or too good to be true price could be a Red Flag as well.
If they are a legitimate seller who had a fair number of feedback for both buying and selling (check their feedback profile page and click on the As a buyer/seller tabs) They will probably run into ebay's 21 day hold on sellers who have not sold anything in over a year or brand new seller's first few payments, and they will not know how to deal with it. Members who have sold before, very often do not know about the hold.
