No longer is your payment information safe on eBay.
Now, with a name and an email address or phone number anyone can gain access to your account with a quick email to change YOUR password.
From there, they can buy what they want.
In my particular case I called as it was happening, was told they were banning that IP (not true) and that I wouldn't be charged for fraudulent activity (also not true)
The scammer called back and had my password changed again later that afternoon and thankfully I removed all of my payment types from my account.
I tried working with eBay. They have no intention of helping. Oh, you need to call the bank they say. Then I call the bank, oh, you need to contact PayPal. Oh, ok then I call PayPal and I hear they are more than happy to issue the refund but are not getting a response from eBay.......
Oh, and the first request, the one I submitted the day of, at the time of was rejected because the scammer called back, knowing zero information about me other than name and email and had it activated again.
To add insult to injury it was a repeating purchase of a TV so even though it's stopped from more coming out of checking I have the initial withdrawal AND another hold on my account
