Beware GPU swap scams.
I purchased what appeared to be an RTX 4090 Open Box item. The Open box listing shows photos and the listing text shows it was an RTX 4090, the Model Number and Serial Number also Match the RTX 4090.
However in device manager, the device shows up as a RadeonT RX 6850M XT.
The other problem is that this device is supposed to power my ROG Z13 laptop, and it doesn't do that either. nVidia GeForce Experience doesn't recognize the device when connected.
I got scammed with a GPU swap. Upon closer inspection of the cooling fins, it looks like there is a bent fin, after inspecting it closer, it appears that this device was opened up and the internals were swapped.
I Only just received the item today, so I started a return request, I'll keep trying to contact ebay customer service, however they don't make it easy to talk to a human anymore.
The seller marked it as "does not accept returns" but the "ebay money back guarantee" covers it, so hopefully I'm not out the 1,800 dollars I paid for this.

Sorry, it should say XG Mobile RTX 4090 in the text. It is the External GPU from ASUS that is compatible with the Z13 X13 and ROG Ally.

There's no need to contact customer service, and it will honestly just confuse matters. If you opened a return and selected that the item was not as described in the listing that's all you need to do.
The seller now has three business days to either refund or send you a return shipping label. If they don't, go back to the case on the fourth business day and ask eBay to step in. They'll then refund you.
After you've been refunded you'll likely want to leave calm, factual feedback. Don't mention having to open a case. That's against feedback rules and a savvy seller can use it to get your feedback removed.

ok. no worries as I did not physically open the case myself. But looking close you can tell it was opened.
i looked in the vent holes with a flashlight the best I could too.
it is defiantly the wrong item. I downloaded the AMD driver software and I can confirm that its not the RTX4090 that I should have received.

GPUs are a high-scam area, and not just on eBay. My advice is to buy one from a reputable retailer. A quick Google search is showing this model available in the $1850 range at several stores, both online and B&M. That seems in line with what you said you paid for this one.

Thank You. I'll look at those retailers.
