I purchased a Windows 10 Pro key from a seller, and it would not work on my Windows 7 computer. He said I needed to buy Windows 10 first. I thought the key was to upgrade to Windows 10. In Windows 7, the only option I see is to use the Windows Anytime Upgrade to upgrade to A NEW EDITION of Windows 7. Can someone help me. Is selling the key a scam???

I'm not familiar with this subject but I looked at a few listings for a Windows Pro 10 key and most of them stated something along this line...
The product key can only be used with a fresh Windows 10 professional installation, upgrade from win 7, 8 and other editions of Windows systems are not supported.
So it sounds to me as if a key is only for when you already have that operating system installed and you need a new key. If that's the case, you weren't scammed, you just didn't realize what a key was for.

Is your machine capable of running Windows 10? Not all are. Did you check the system requirements prior to purchasing.
Since Windows 7 is being discontinued you would have probably been better off to buy a new computer.
