Windows 10 Pro -- Scam???

I purchased a Windows 10 Pro key from a seller, and it would not work on my Windows 7 computer. He said I needed to buy Windows 10 first. I thought the key was to upgrade to Windows 10. In Windows 7, the only option I see is to use the Windows Anytime Upgrade to upgrade to A NEW EDITION of Windows 7. Can someone help me. Is selling the key a scam???

Windows 10 Pro -- Scam???

I'm not familiar with this subject but I looked at a few listings for a Windows Pro 10 key and most of them stated something along this line...

The product key can only be used with a fresh Windows 10 professional installation, upgrade from win 7, 8 and other editions of Windows systems are not supported.

So it sounds to me as if a key is only for when you already have that operating system installed and you need  a new key. If that's the case, you weren't scammed, you just didn't realize what a key was for.

Windows 10 Pro -- Scam???

i bought 3 of these keys with the exact same issue . none of them worked ended up returning them for item not as described. Go to microsoft site click on upgrade to windows 10 from windows 7 using Microsoft Media button . its quick and simple , i used the cd method which puts the installation for windows 10 on it. then just pop it in your computer and follow prompts . It will install windows 10 using your same key that you have for your windows 7 version automatically and all your programs and files are untouched meaning they are all still there. hope this helps if you run into problems message me

Is your machine capable of running Windows 10?  Not all are.  Did you check the system requirements prior to purchasing.

Since Windows 7 is being discontinued you would have probably been better off to buy a new computer.
