Will the seller know my id if I reply to the seller's special discount send through EBay?

Recently, I receives more and more special discount from items either I reviewed or watched. I know this is a function in which EBay let the seller sending out discounts without knowing the targeted buyer id. My question is, when I decline or made a counteroffer, will the seller then know my ID? Would this be a new way for a seller to find out potential buyer ids? (just like those did 10 years ago when the buyer's id still visible in item's bid history).

The seller can still see a buyers Id in bid history.  It's just everyone else who can't.

When a seller sends one of those offers it does not give the option to decline or counter.  You can only accept or ignore it

It's anonymous.  The seller does not know the user ID's of watchers when they send an offer.  You can ignore, or delete.  You can't send a counter offer.  I don't know if a seller can see your ID if you decline as I don't send offers.

If you accept offer is the only way they will know your id

This is a user to user board not eBay employees.

If you bought something from the seller it is logical to assume that the seller would know your name and address.   If the seller sent you an offer it would be logical to assume that he knows your User ID.  Especially if you reply to the offer.  Of course, it is also logical to assume by posting here that we all know your User ID, lionshi, at least, this one.  I'm afraid I don't quite understand the issue.

That assumption would be wrong though.

Sellers don't know the user id when they send watchers an offer..

Interesting!  I suppose that makes some sort of eBay logic sense.  Of course, if you respond to the offer I would guess that the seller would but I imagine that would depend upon the response itself.

Or when ebay sends offers just because the user looked at the item.
