Why are sellers dropshipping walmart

I understand hard times for people, the economy.   I purchased grape propel water from a couple of sellers.   Now,  why are the sellers stocky photos?

Their not using the shipping,  their providing shipping on the big companies.  Not using theirs.  Now I did a review on one seller and they came back with a life story.   I'm going to talk to ebay and see what they might do.

My point is if the item was incorrect,  who is it returned too.    Does anyone else have an issue with a seller as well?

This is one of the reasons that this sort of drop shipping isn't allowed here. The only thing you can really do is report the seller to ebay for this and hopefully they will be removed. However, this will only happen IF enough of their customers report this.

If it was purchased on eBay , you file a case and return as eBay says.  Does not matter who shipped or delivered it.   Your case is always with the seller  you purchased from.

Interestingly I just had the same thing happen to me. I bought an item from a seller in NJ (I'm in Nevada). They drop shipped it from a NEVADA Walmart up the road from me. My local Walmart had indicated that the item was out of stock (which is why I bought it online).

So the closest Walmart said it was out of stock - but they shipped it to me from a slightly further away store based on the drop shipper. What is even more fascinating is that it cost me LESS from the drop shipper than it would have cost if I bought it at the local Walmart. I didn't have the time nor the inclination to drive to the more distant location and then schlepp through the store. Walmart offered free shipping if the order was over $50.00 which it was not. And, since I have a tax exempt number on file with eBay, I did not have to pay NV sales tax which I would have paid if I bought it locally.

All things considered I have no complaint.

You can also contact Walmart corporate w/ the order details.  Sometimes out of stock conditions occur and a seller will buy elsewhere and drop ship but as a matter of course, Walmart isn't in the business of supplying resellers.  They do have policies that say as much, same w/ Target and others not that I'm saying right from wrong in as far as my personal opinion.

Interesting to consider however the dynamics.  That is to say eBay makes its commission on the sale, Walmart makes their money off the sale yet Walmart is one of two big entities that's put a hurt on eBay.  Walmart has been expanding their online presence with third party sellers and their "Ship to Store" model is very difficult for an eBay or an Amazon for that matter to compete with.  A buyer can inspect product right there as to legitimacy of purchase, even bring it home, take it back.  Walmart at this point in time is by far in the way the most predatory towards Amazon or eBay business models.

Kind of a conundrum there, both are making money but ultimately Walmart has been ripping marketshare away from eBay and Amazon.

Now no idea as to how Walmart views such matters, official policy is they are not in the business of procurement for resellers just as say back in the day Microsoft was not in support of Piracy of their products.  However, Microsoft did not aggressively pursue Piracy albeit making it appear as they did and via that they captured and dominate Office Software.  They couldn't be accused of anti-trust anything as essentially the market was stolen for them.

Now if Walmart simply says, "Well, yeah, we're against that..." but in fact just let it happen via their ship to store (or to home I suppose) model(s) allowing drop ship they are essentially in position to undermine eBay.  As the OP said, if consumer returns product where does it go?  The return generated via eBay would have it going back to the seller, Walmart has it's money, sold it's product and eBay is at the loss.  Anyway it's cut its a win/win for Walmart.

Please listen Ebay and get rid of these drop sellers.  They are giving all of us good sellers a bad name.   I have had two friends who had problems with them and they are gone from Ebay forever.

Nobody has ever stepped in and try to bring those buyers back.   There should be a button for new buyers where if your experience was not 100% perfect, tell us, and Ebay will make it right.  For years, they just let those buyers leave forever from one bad seller.

Also, there are drop sellers selling unseen returns.   For the love of GOD for any listing that is anything but new, you MUST have real pictures of the item you are selling.

Also, you must respond to customers messages within 8 hours.  It comes to your phone, how hard is it.  At least say, give me a minute and I will get back with you.

Ebay really would have been the top platform I believe, if the bottom 20% of sellers were purged every year.

I understand what you're saying but they don't have an eco system like I do and my friend does.  I can actually teach resellers a thing or two of shipping.   Like i said yes for the investors but come on now.

They can keep the sellers,  just don't sell water.   it has to be bought from the store, then shipped from that location.

Only the traditional drop-shipping model is allowed by eBay. That's where the seller has a contract agreement with a supplier.

But listing an item one does not have, nor own, and then once sold, sourcing it from, and having a third-party retailer ship, an item to the buyer, is expressly forbidden by eBay. That is retail arbitrage, not drop-shipping. If there is a problem with the item when delivered, it is up to the seller to figure out a return. It's one of the possible complications of the arbitrage method.

It also can upset buyers who come to eBay to buy and then find an Amazon package on their doorstep. (There are some eBay sellers who have a contract with Amazon to fulfill their eBay orders, and that is allowed. But it is not allowed, nor ethical, for a seller to use his Amazon Prime membership to both purchase, and ship an item-- calling it a gift-- to his eBay buyer, unbeknownst to Amazon.)

See the policy below.

I don't want the reseller removed,   they can't sell water.   if they want to sell they need to learn certain things.  Everyone has a chance and some blow it and wonder why and don't realize.

Per Ebay

"

Drop shipping, where you fulfill orders directly from a wholesale supplier, is allowed on eBay. Remember that if you use drop shipping, you’re still responsible for the safe delivery of the item within the time frame stated in your listing and for the buyer’s overall satisfaction with their purchase.

However, listing an item on eBay and then purchasing the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer is not allowed on eBay.

Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension."

So in the case of Walmart, I would say no, this probably goes against policy. If you report them will ebay do anything about it? Maybe - but probably not. More likely they'll let it slide or just send out a message to the seller reminding them of their policy. Remember, every sale on Ebay fills Ebays coffers (since they get a percentage of the sale price, the shipping, and even the tax). Considering Ebay's continual economic slide, you can see why it seems to go on seemingly unfettered. As you pointed out however, it is so not a good idea for many of the reasons you mentioned.

First off that is not allowed.  Sellers can drop ship but must use a real drop ship company.  Any returns go back to the eBay seller as they sold it to the buyer.

Some people can make money doing that.  Not so much if eBay catches it and bans them from selling for life.

It won't be returned to anyone.  The seller is almost certainly in another country and is just going to refund, they are not going to pay to have defective water returned to their house at a cost greater than the original transaction cost.

At the prices they have them at they are only clearing about $1 after fees one return eats up the profit on 13 sales.

Your return is ALWAYS with the seller

The person who is responsible for that item, and sold you the item

Why do you care where it came from? You didn't have to buy it.

It doesn't change your purchase,  your price, the quality, or your return...

Returns work the same way no matter where they get the item from.

How do you know they didn't buy 20 items from Walmart. Resell them and just used Walmarts pics because they thought they were better than their own? Ebay allows this.

Plus ebay allows drop shipping if you buy from wholesale. Not from Walmart. But you can buy from suppliers that supply Walmart,  have same products

.....

You can choose to shop on Walmart,  ebay, Amazon,  wherever you want. It's your choice to make a purchase or not. But if you are worried about where an item came from, I recommend buying straight from the retailer store you want- and not off Amazon or Ebay. Both of those have seller items from all over the universe pretty much.

Remember even Walmart has pro-sellers. Their items come from everywhere too.
