Why Am I Now Required to Have a Default Payment When Making an Offer?

Hello Gals and Guys -

I went to make an offer on an item and was prompted to set my default payment method, which as a long time eBay user, I've never had to before and probably makes it less likely I'll do it in the future.  I'm curious how this came about?  Thanks for any help.

But you're not a seller?  Buyers can't even receive negative feedback (it's been like 15 years since sellers can leave negative feedback for buyers) so that's meaningless really.  I think it's pretty straightforward.  Don't bid or make on offer if you don't plan on paying.  Worried about combined shipping? Why? Takes 2 seconds as a seller to send a refund for combined shipping.

yes I’m disgusted with this new payment format, it’s insulting, and it looks like this applies to auction wins as well. It’s certainly put paid to me making any offers, I guess ultimately the seller will lose out. High handed of them and I think we all get nannied enough.

Hey, couldn’t agree more, had it happened to me a few times. really annoying, I’m all for sellers being penalised for this.

Oh yes you are so right and there’s not  dam  thing we can do about it. These changes they are constantly  implementing are only ever for their benefit.
