In the recent past, I've used the chat icon and been able to ask an agent to call me back, which they have. That worked well. Now I need to speak with them again but the chat online will NOT let me write in "agent" and none of the drop down options they provide leads me to give an agent an idea of what I need help with! And the reply box is grayed out until I choose an option. I chose some options which lead to more options and none are accurate for my situation. Help!

There is not a phone number to use. Best is to reach out on one of their social media platforms

Even if you do get a call back or reach the chat from an ebay rep, they may not be able to help you, since they work for a contracted 3rd party call/chat center. They reply based on the situations described in the play book they are provided, which doesn't cover every situation.
If you tell us what your issue is, we can probably help you with it. What we need to know is;
When you made a purchase and what the last estimated delivery date is/was? That info is in your Order Details.
Did you receive your item and was it as described or have the correct number of pieces?
Did you get a tracking number that received a Delivered scan, but nothing was in your box or at your door?
Have you contacted the seller and what did they reply, if they replied at all?
Have you filed a dispute through ebay, and if so what was the outcome?

In case others see this, my solution was to just keep choosing any drop down menu answer until finally, FINALLY I had the option to speak with an agent. They called me in about 40 minutes.
