Hey guys I am having a problem it started a few weeks ago and can't seem to find out what is causing it.
I use google chrome.
It is a magnifying glass in the search bar that is very annoying, because when I click to edit a search term the words shift over about 100 pixels and the magnifying glass is removed.
When I use ebay in different browsers I do not get this magnifying glass.
When I disable all my addons I still see it, when I log out I still see it.
please help 😞 thanks so much

When the maginfying glass turns my pointer icon from an arrow to the pointing hand, and I left click it, it draws up previous searches. What I do not ever get is the box on the right with the angled arrow in it.
Chrome and eBay do not play well together. It's very possible a Chrome update is what started the problem.

I also noticed that magnifying glass icon in the search bar some time last month. It annoyed me enough that I tried to remove it using the element hiding tool of various ad blocking extensions, but was ultimately unsuccessful, and gave up trying.
Now I no longer see the magnifying glass icon in any of my browsers. Not sure what happened, unless eBay is having limited trials that only affect certain accounts or certain older browser types.

Is there a way to get rid of this "greatest example of html coding". Ad blocker dont work ? Wery annoying when you try to write to that box.

Now that the magnifying glass is back the only workaround I have found is to train myself to click once inside the search field to make the icon disappear before trying to position the cursor exactly.
One user on ebay.co.uk reported that by using Chrome and also using the "hide eBay suggestions" option in the search box drop-down the user was able to get the icon to stop disappearing when clicking in the search field box. When I try that there is some effect, but sometimes the icon still disappears and the text still shifts, and other times it does not. If anything, that is more annoying than the previous behavior; in any case, using the "hide eBay suggestions" option has no apparent effect in Firefox for me, only Chrome. But I offer that as a possible suggestion in case it works better for others.
