Using credit card through Paypal

I buy frequently on ebay, always using Paypal. I fund with my checking account for small items and larger tiucket items, I fund with credit card that is on file with Paypal. Tonight I purchased a bigger ticket item and when I clicked to fund with my credit card, ebay checkout asked me to enter my credit card info (this defeats the purpose of using Paypal). This is the first time that has happened. After double checking that I had done everything right, I decided to go ahead and enter my credit card info as requested. Then it comes back saying that they could not process payment through Paypal. I went back and funded with my checking account and it went through as usual. It seems that ebay is making it harder and harder to do business here. Has something changed? Any info would be appreciated. Not many options for help from ebay or Paypal. Thanks.

Does the listing you bought say Paypal is accepted?  Some sellers have opted into Managed Payments and they cannot take Paypal.  Paypal will supposedly be available Summer of 2019.

@countrymind,

Castlemagicmemories is right about the managed payments system blocking paypal purchases, even when they have the paypal logo in their listings.   Usually, this happens with new sellers, so you should check a seller's feedback profile before buying.  People who have bought for awhile but just started selling may have a fair number of feedback, but only for buying the same is true of people who have not sold anything in over a year.

The Managed Payments system is the suck. I have tried two different credit cards, and both weren't able to go through.  I receive an email asking me to resend the payments, but they still don't work.

Combine that with ebay splitting my order so that coupon codes can't be used, and now having items show up in both my purchase history and in my shopping cart, the new system is broken.

What used to be a smooth, seamless purchasing process now drives me crazy.

Did you check your PayPal account to see what form of payment you had designated as your Preferred one? PayPal will defer to that one even if you think you're choosing something else at checkout. This applies if you choose PP as your payment stream. Of course, you can also choose direct pay with a cc/debit card at checkout, which is why Ebay asked for your card info.

Same thing happened to me.  My payments charged to my debit card, but then eBay says I have to resend for they did not go through.  This will definitely hurt eBay's business.  I too lost my 10% coupon and two hours of my life messing with this.

Same thing here.  Ebay jumped the shark.  I did not buy several items because of screwing around with a credit card while Paypal is already setup.

Ebay must have hired some Amazon clowns.

This would be a good time to sell Ebay stock.
