Using Buy It Now After Making Offer

Hi all,

I submitted an offer on an item but I decided to just buy it now instead. It was just a few dollars more and decided it wasn't worth haggling. The order went through, but I see the offer is still pending on my bids/offers page. What would happen if the seller accepts the offer after I already used buy it now and paid for the item?

My apologies, please disregard this post. I guess the answer is that the offer will be automatically declined due to purchasing the item.

I waited quite a while to see what would happen, but I suppose it just took some time to process. I received a notification that the offer was declined and that I had purchased the item. Oh well, thanks anyway!

Just know for the future that if the seller has more than one available, that you would buy both

-- the Buy-It-Now you went ahead to pay

-- and your best offer if the seller accepts your still-valid offer (you would request a cancel).

This is a known eBay issue, perhaps by design since it generates more sales.

ONLY if it is a single-item listing.   If it is a multiple item listing (where the seller has multiple quantities to sell and therefore the buyer has to choose a quantity) a Buy It Now does not end the listing and the seller can accept the offer despite the offeror having used the Buy It now, and the buyer would be required to pay for both (or 4x or double whatever quantity s/he was after).

I just had this happened to me and yes the seller didt cancel the offer he took the offer and I was charged by twice and it’s one item with the same tracking and everything but “two different” products, I reached out to the seller I hope they can get things right I assumed oh it’ll come out in the wash when I made the purchased but back account was looking lower than I expected and there it was
