Did you mean:

Unpaid item

I really need help! I just bought an item for $500. I have paid for the item yet it says that it is unpaid for on ebay but has no option to actually buy it, it even allows me to write a review. I even checked Paypal and it shows that the transaction went through and the seller says they didn't receive the money!

Unpaid item

@rockabillyjon,

Did you check the seller's feedback profile yet?  Have they sold anything before or in the last year?  If the seller has no feedback for selling in over a year, chances are they ran into Paypal's 21 day hold on payments for new or returning sellers.  Even if they have sold things in the last year, if they haven't sold an expensive item before or this sale is for a smart phone, jewelry, personal electronics etc., which are considered risky categories, PayPal may have placed a hold on the payment.

On your PP account the transaction is marked Completed, but the seller's account may show Pending.  So they do not think you have paid yet.  The hold catches many sellers by surprise.  If you look and see that the seller may have run into the hold, try contacting them, tell them if your payment is marked Pening on their PayPal account they should click on the Help button, and type "Payment Hold" into the topic search box.  Then they will get the info needed to complete the transaction.

If the seller accepts PayPal and that is how you paid at check out, then the payment should show you paid.  If you are using the app, try logging in the classic way without using the app, to see if the item is marked as paid.  Hopefully, the seller didn't talk you into not using ebay's checkout, but to use paypal's send money option.  If that happened the payment would not show paid on your purchase history, and this could have been a scam.

If the seller's feedback profile shows all but one or two feedback is over a year old, and the recent feedback is for a purchase.

If the seller has no selling history, or has never sold anything like what you purchased.

If the item price was very low or too good to be true, and the estimated  delivery dates are over 14 days for a domestic purchase.

Several of those things together are signs of a scam.

If you are able to start an Item Not Received dispute on your payment at PayPal:

http://paypal.com/disputes

that tells you that the transaction did in fact go through. With a dispute open, your seller clearly sees your payment, and will now have up to 20 days to enter a tracking number and get your item delivered.

Otherwise, click Escalate to PayPal on the dispute before the end of 20 days to secure your refund, as the seller was never going to ship your item anyway.
