Transaction cancelation request problem.

Hi everyone,

I just purchased a LV bag for my daughter birthday Lv Duomo. I purchased a wrong bag, she like LV Duomo "crossbody", I bought a Duomo "Hobo". i didn't know until my wife came home from work and told me. I asked the seller to cancel the transaction after one hour. I pay via Paypal. The seller have not ship the bag, because it's 8PM in Omaha, Nebraska. The seller refused to cancel the transaction because she NO LONGER can.

Is there anything I can do now to cancel the transaction?

@lux4less18 I have a suggestion for you. If the seller cancels the transaction they will be refunded their fees by eBay, not PayPal. Since they haven't shipped it yet that is all they will be out. I don't know what you paid for this bag but if you are willing to take a partial refund and ask the seller to simply deduct the PP fees they may agree.

If you write very kindly, point out they won't be out besides the PP fees, which you are willing to have deducted, and apologize for your error. It's actually to their benefit as you obviously don't want the bag now. All you can do is try, but they may give in and save both of you time and energy. Best of luck to you....

@lux4less18

You cannot cancel an order...you can only request to cancel an order.  Many sellers are willing to do this but not all sellers will.

When you purchase an item, you are going into a contract with another person.  The seller has associated costs with each sale.

I am sorry that I do not have better news for you.  I have already looked and the seller does not accept returns.

If you paid with a credit card, whether directly at eBay checkout, or through PayPal @lux4less18 contact your card issuer to mark the charge as an unauthorized transaction. This will give your seller a chance to cancel the transaction and issue a refund.

eBay needs to move past the Stone Age and behave like a real e-commerce site, where cancellations are part of doing business.

The time to decide on what you want to buy is prior to buying it.  While you can request a cancellation, the seller is not required to agree to it.

Your solution is for the OP to make a false statement to his credit card company, possibly risking his credit standing? Wow, that's brilliant.

It is my understanding that in order for a seller to "cancel" the sale, a refund for the total amount the buyer paid must be given to get any ebay fees refunded. Has that changed?

If the seller still accepts PayPal directly, they must have the funds on hand in their PayPal account to refund in full in addition to the fees PayPal is going to keep.  I don't think there is an option to "cancel" an ebay sale and only provide a partial refund to the buyer.

If the seller is in managed payments, it is my understanding that the total amount will be put "on hold" until the cancellation is complete. The time may vary from days to weeks.   Again, I was under the impression that a "cancel" required a full refund to the buyer.

If you are going to recommend a solution at least make one that isn't dishonest.  What you are saying is incorrect as the seller can hit with a $20 chargeback fee.
