Sponsored Listing.....

by the seller- they pay 1% to 'unlimited' % above and beyond the regularly scheduled final value fees, for that item to be shown on the 1st page (typically). Search engines have used this format for years, basically bidding against other sellers to 'pay more' should that item be sold, which has a better chance of being sold if it is on the 1st page.

Also, items, when you click on them, as you scroll down- are now showing 'other sponsored items' which can take that buyer to another, possibly lower priced item, in essence, stealing that customer. So, if a seller puts all items on 'sponsored' (called 'promotions on a sellers side), then it will be 'their' items shown there.

So basically an easier (but they pay for it) way for a seller to get their item placed up high on the list (i.e.page one) in a search, yes?  Have also noticed the "Other Sponsored Items" while searching, tho I think I'd rather just see similar items instead, since there's really no difference/benefit to me when buying. Interesting tho. Thank You. 🌼

Sponsored/promoted items are also features of Amazon and Etsy, at least--those are the only other two sites I use. I don't know if sites like Bonanza or Mercari, etc., offer the option to sellers.
