Sent Emails Not Showing Up In Sent Folder

Hello Gals and Guys -

I bought a Switch power adapter to use with a second dock I have.  The description in my opinion was a bit confusing because it said Switch compatible in the title, but in the fine print, it said it was not compatible with the dock, which I realized after it had shipped , but before I received it so I never opened it.

I contacted the seller asking if I could exchange it for one that worked with the dock, but they didn't have that and offered me a $1.50 refund, which eventually got upped to $3.50.  I said the product was no good to me and would prefer to return it.  They said sure and gave me their address, but shipping it would have cost the same as the refund they offered, I so refused delivery with the Post Office and sent it back as I had not opened.  A couple weeks passed and I had not heard form the seller, so I sent them an email asking about it.  More time passed and I still had not gotten a reply, so I checked my sent emails just make sure I had sent it and there was no email to seller in my sent emails folder.  I just sent another email inquiring about the return and it too does not show up in the sent folder, so I'm wondering why the emails are not showing in the sent folder and if the seller has received them?  I've had other correspondence that worked as it should have, but these aren't going through.  Thanks for any help.

@zazonz,

"I so refused delivery with the Post Office and sent it back as I had not opened".

That was not the right thing to do. Returns because of refusal get the lowest priority of handling, so the P.O. may still have it, even if it was originally shipped Priority Mail.  Because you didn't read the full description including the fine print, this was a buyer's remorse return, which means you return the item on your dime, in order to get a refund.  It is even possible the seller received it back with postage due, which is why they are not responding to you.

You say you have sent emails, do you mean you messaged the seller through ebay messages?  If you did and the seller had blocked you, you should have received a note saying the seller was not accepting messages from you. If you sent regular emails why they are not showing up in your sent messages we can't say, unless they are all replies to an earlier email, and might be found by opening the last one sent or replied to.

Accepting your offer does not make the listing go away.  It is live until you pay for it, so it is certainly possible that if you hadn't paid someone did the buy it now.

Re: Sent Emails Not Showing Up In Sent Folder

Thank you for the replies. If I hear you correctly you're saying the seller can have a somewhat ambiguous title, I didn't know you could buy a Switch adapter that did not work with the dock, but if I don't read the entire description, fine print and all, I'm 100% at fault? That seems to hold me to a higher standard than the seller. Regardless, I'm OK with whatever the seller and I work out, I just want to know why my emails are not getting to the seller. I have not received a message stating I'm being blocked. Thanks again.

Re: Sent Emails Not Showing Up In Sent Folder

If a title is "somewhat ambiguous", wouldn't it make sense that the smart thing to do is completely read the listing?  Unless the title said something that was completely negated by the description, then yes, you're at fault.

As for your sent messages, have you tried sending one to another member to see if it goes through? You're welcome to send one test message to me to check that out. That would tell you if it's an issue with your messages as a whole or just with this seller. I know eBay is now testing a new version of messaging, so that could be impacting yours.

Re: Sent Emails Not Showing Up In Sent Folder

Thanks for the reply. As I stated I didn't know you could buy a Switch adapter that worked with the Switch, but not the dock, so I did not know it was somewhat ambiguous. My point being had the seller put this in the title, there's 100% probability I would not have bought this. Working with the dock is likely why a lot of people would buy one, so leaving out the fact it doesn't work with the dock seems like a major omission.

I bear some responsibility for not reading the complete description and in my opinion so does the seller obscuring the fact it did not work with the dock by putting it in the description. If I'm held to the standard that I have to completely read and consider every facet of the description before buying while sellers can make listings designed to maximize sales, making important facts harder to find, that seems like I'm being held to a higher standard. I think I'll just try to email them through the listing as it still is active. Thanks again.

You say you "didn't know you could buy a Switch adapter that worked with the Switch, but not the dock". Just curious how you think the seller is supposed to know what bidders know or don't know? Are they supposed to be psychic and address every possible misconception someone might have in a title that's limited to 80 characters?

Some ... what would you estimate your proportion to be?  Never mind, that's rhetorical.  If you happen to be using a smart phone, it's more difficult to see the complete description, but it's not impossible.  My hope is that this will be a learned lesson for you.  Sellers make mistakes, buyers make mistakes.  Good luck.

Yes, it's an imperfect world.  I'm sure we'll work something out.
