Twice in the last month I have ordered multiple items of shampoo and conditioner only to have a couple of different sellers send only one item when they got paid for two or more. They ignored me until I opened a case with Ebay; then one seller began sending threatening and insulting messages to me, trying to intimidate me into withdrawing the complaint. When I contacted Ebay admin to find out how to block this maniac, Ebay rep told me the only way to block messages from this seller was to close the case. So I've noticed that intimidation by sellers is a way to cheat customers. Ebay has become a cadre of thugs and scam artists. I won't buy anything else on Ebay for awhile. I will pay more on Amazon and at least not be cheated. Sad.

I got concerned by the nasty and abusive messages this seller left me. He has lots of negative feedback indicating a pattern of this bullying but is still on Ebay cheating and threatening. So I closed my case to block him. I won't be patronizing Ebay until they do a better job of regulating sellers with negative feedback.

@rebelhillary Closing the case does not keep the seller from messaging you. The cs gave very bad advice

@pburn @rebelhillary The only account block is under seller settings. It is limited though as they can still contact you within 60 days of a sale/ purchase.
I would think that it would block any member since anyone can be a potential seller.
Add to the Blocked buyer list:
https://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?BidderBlockLogin
My ebay> account> site preferences> buyer requirements, this is the last step at the bottom of the buyer requirements>
Don't allow blocked buyers to contact me. (Buyer won't see the "Contact Seller" button on your Q&A page.) Note: Buyers can still contact you about existing transactions, unless you add them to your blocked list.

I'm so glad to have this information!
Okay. So, not to hurt your feelings or anything (LOL), I've just added you to my blocked buyers list and check off the box that says, "Don't allow blocked buyers to contact me."
When you have some time, would you see if you can message me via eBay messaging? This is a selling-only account, so this will be a test! We'll be able to confirm whether it works for buying accounts to block others from sending eBay messages.
We're probably getting a little off topic, but maybe the OP and others reading this thread will gain something from it. I know I have.

I wasn't aware that a seller could be blocked from sending messages to buyers. How do you apply that block?
But I could sure take a bunch of abusive messages (by deleting them without reading them) before I'd let a seller bully me into closing a case.
There's a setting in the site settings communication settings I believe to do that but it won't take effect until the current transaction times out.
I have seen conflicting times.
Usually even the most determined harasser gives up before the block takes if you don't respond.

@pburn LOL ! No hurt feelings. I'm glad I got to test this.. Turns out it doesn't block message from the profile page contact...
Now that the cob webs are clearing from my brain I remember that it will only block a buyer if they try to select contact from a listing but doesn't block them if they select contact from the profile page..

Darn. Yeah. I received the message.
So, @rebelhillary, have you been able to place some kind of block on communication from this seller? Did the customer service rep explain to you how to do that?
I mean, the seller would probably stop messaging you anyway, when you closed the case, but have you been able to formally block him/her from messaging you?
Or, is rebelhillary a selling account, too? I didn't see any current, sold, or completed listings, but is the account registered to sell? If so, you might be able to block him/her.

Yeah. Looks like only selling accounts can block communications through the Site Preferences/Buyer Requirements links.
Do you know of a way buying accounts can block eBay messages from other members? I've looked everywhere . . . so if you know how to do it, we'd appreciate knowing the steps. Thanks!

Why in heaven's name are you letting a seller intimidate you when what he has sent you is just a bunch of words on your computer? The solution is to continue the claim to the finish and get a full refund.
Go to your credit card company and do a chargeback.
Stand up for your self!

Should be the same.
Problem may be that I am a Power Seller with a store...the average user...I'm not sure what they see or what functionality they have.
I haven't had the pleasure of being noobly in about 20 years.

Hi @rebelhillary, I've had this situation reviewed and you will be receiving an update shortly on the next steps to reach a resolution for your purchase. I do want to clarify that there is no way to block messages with a trading partner, but anything that violates our policies can be reported to Customer Service and appropriate action will be taken. I'm sorry to hear that you have had such a poor experience and that your previous conversation with Customer Service didn't prove to be helpful. You are protected in this situation, just keep an eye out for a message from us with next steps.
