Sellers Not Leaving Feedback, I'm done

I'm tired of Sellers not returning Feedback, I Leave feedback for Every purchase. I even send sellers a note saying "got my item and leaving feedback Please do the same" and still I only get half of the sellers , at best, to return feedback. I'm done! from now on I will only leave feedback After the seller does!

This! And checking their Feedback Left will clue you in on their habits of returning feedback. Eventually they should learn.

You don't need to be sending notes to sellers asking for feedback. Ebay does that. Let sleeping dogs lie.

Buyer feedback is a useless appendage left over from the days when a buyer could get a negative for being a bad buyer.

Feedback for a buyer is a useless/meaningless thing. It should not exist.

You can get nothing except +, and there is nothing that you can do with feedback.

You have 862 (102 as a seller from over 1 year ago). What will you do with 863.

You paid. The buyer sent your item. You are done. What more do you need.

Do Walmart, Target, Lowe's, Home Depot, or Amazon leave you a + feedback for all the world to see what a wonderful buyer you are after you make a purchase?

As a seller I leave feedback for every buyer after I ship.

My items are as described, well packaged, shipped promptly, same or next business day, and on my accounts I get 20-30% feedback.

I don't care. I have enough feedback (100% +)(knock on wood). I do not need any more feedback to make me feel good.

Except if you are a seller too. If a seller hasn't left me feedback in a month (and I already have) I will send them a message to remind them. 95% of the time it works.

My response was to a "buyer".

Your statement is true, in it being of value to a seller/buyer, but in that instance it is a false positive.

It is padding the seller stats with a meaningless buyer feedback that is a reflection of their performance as a buyer, and not of their performance as a seller.

Seller with 9990 positives as a buyer, and 10 positives as a seller looks great on paper with a 100% + rating

Seller with 9999 positives as a buyer, and 1 negative as a seller looks like they have a great ebay'er %age on paper, (99.99%) but when broken down their seller %age is "zero".(%age can not go negative).

I realize that is a extreme example.

When most buyers don't even read an item description, they won't bother to wade through a sellers feedback to see where it was from. They just look at the feedback score itself.

That's your choice, but you will probably get less feedback than if you had just gone ahead and posted feedback as then the seller might reciprocate.

You don't message anyone and ask for feedback.  They know to post if they want to do so.  You do know that feedback is voluntary, which means anyone can post whenever they want to...or not at all.  It is NOT part of the transaction.  You get item, seller gets your money is all that is.

Seller cannot post negative feedback for buyers, so their only recourse if a transaction has not gone well is to leave no feedback.  Buyers do the same thing if they feel that the transaction has not gone well but they don't feel it was bad enough to warrant a neg.

No one likes reminders~and being it is voluntary, everyone won't be on your timetable.  You might have made  BBLs at the same time you got that feedback.

That's purely opinion.  Many buyers DO read the item description, and they DO read feedback comments to avoid issues.

I think seller feedback to a buyer is a courtesy, same as a store clerk saying "thank you", even if it is rote.  That said, if you received your item and it is as expected, it's totally up to you if you want to leave seller feedback.  As a (small) seller, I am interested in the feedback you have left for other sellers.  As a buyer, I am interested in a seller's feedback from other buyers - it can make a difference in who I purchase from (along with price).

There are many sellers that do not give buyer feedback until the buyer has left feedback or acknowledged the item receipt.

Some sellers might not be all that organized and may have missed leaving feedback for a sale or two.  Reminders seem to work when I send them to sellers. Yes FB is voluntary, but if they can't be bothered the courtesy of leaving feedback after receiving a positive one for something they sold, (and that feedback helps their future sales) I don't care if they put me on their BBL. There are so many sellers here that I've rarely bought repeatedly from the same seller anyway.

Not purely opinion at all from all the posts on these forums from sellers complaining about how buyers don't read their entire descriptions before buying.

Feed back is voluntary for both buyer AND seller.... PERIOD  Don't want to leave it?  Don't.  Don't want to purchase of eBay because sellers didn't leave it?  That's your choice.

Since sellers couldn't tell the truth about a buyer if they tried, buyer feedback is useless.... why bother.  eBay should just abolish the entire practice of buyers getting any kind of feedback altogether and be done with it.  Let eBay give them a "purchase point" if they absolutely must get some sort of gold star.

As a seller I give an obligatory "Thank you for your purchase" and nothing more.  I don't gush and say what a wonderful buyer they are or quickly they paid.  They may not be a wonderful buyer and paying is what makes them a buyer.  The thank you I leave is the same "thank you" buyers see at the bottom of their grocery receipt.... Thanks for your purchase, hope to see you again.  While I appreciate the purchase, buyers aren't doing me a favor by purchasing my product, I send a quality product they probably can't get anywhere else.  I have the product, they have the money.  We exchange goods and hopefully everyone is happy.

As a seller, why do I bother to "play the game" and leave feedback?  Because for some reason some buyers still feel the need to getting some sort of validation for doing what is required of them to complete the transaction, that and I don't want to get a negative because of their sense of entitlement.
