Seller misrepresented an item. Since the item was of equal value as the one I purchased, I decided to keep it, but not leave feedback.
After a while, seller contacts me and wants me to leave feedback.
I explained to them why I did not leave feedback, that I was not going to leave it, and I would be keeping the item.
Seller offered refund, and told me how honest they are.
I said ok.
They responded and banned me from their store, telling me not to come back and buy again.
That kind of irritated me, so I left feedback, stating what happened.
They responded to the feedback I left them, calling me a scammer.
I don't know for sure the feeback protocol/rules these days, but last I knew sellers were not allowed to attack buyers in feedback?
Is that still the case, and if it is, am I able to report this?

It can be removed even if it is a response. I have had sellers post false statements as a rsponse or follow up and I called CS and they removed it.

Sellers can't leave Negatives or negative comments in a Positive. The rules for replying to buyer FB are more murky. Generally you should leave it alone though since it reflects more on them than you.

yeh, oh well. It kind of ticks me off, because I didn't want to leave any feedback, as I don't like the inevitable raging at me over it. He told me he has 1000 of these items, and indicated he will continue to sell them under the misrepresenting description.

A little update. I called ebay, and they looked at the responses, and said they will remove the seller's responses to my feedback, as ebay feels they are innapropriate. The rep said it could take up to 24 hours, so I guess wait and see.

You asked for advice, got it and ingnored it.
So be it.

I appreciate you took the time to respond to me.
Not sure why you are offended or why what you think what you say would be the final word on what I am allowed to do.
Very bizzare attitude.

In the past, eBay has removed the entire feedback in this situation, so the seller's neg disappears as well. Hopefully that will not occur for you.

Sellers are not allowed to leave a negative comment in feedback for a buyer. But the seller didn’t do that. They responded to your feedback on THEIR feedback profile.
That is permitted. It’s unlikely ( but not impossible) that it will be removed.

OP, you did great! Glad you called and got that removed. Smart move!
The Board can be perplexing at times. I understand. I can only suggest that you take things with a grain of salt.

You are, of course, not bound or required to take anyone's advice.

No reason you should have to have an abusive, false, derogatory statement show on your profile. It only makes sense that you would not want that there, and that you would be concerned as to how that affects your reputation.

Thats exactly what I was going to say. Savvy members look at your feedback left for others and they see the negatives you've left and the seller's reply. I think you handled the situation perfectly. There are many posters who would have told you to leave no feedback, which is exactly what you did. Its the sellers actions after the fact, that earned them the neg.

Try not to take this personally. You are not the first nor will you be the last buyer who has been called a scammer when they were not.
Sorry this happened to you.

You decided to accept their mistake and move on, but nooooo, the seller wanted feedback, so they got feedback.
