Purchased item on 5/29. Got both shipping and delivery notification on 6/2. Same day from CA to TN... highly unlikely. I didn’t get it. No fedex or UPS deliveries were made to my house. I’m at home all day. I contacted the seller and they said it was just showing drop off. Seller has over 2K in sales ; so, they should know how to use EBay shipping properly. Seller emails an image of shipping label and I scan it into the fedex app and it still shows delivered to Pasadena. I’m still thinking this was some sort of error and ask Seller for a delivery date. They keep saying not to worry and they have insurance. Insurance doesn’t help me, right?
The next day I file item not received with EBay. Is there anything else I need to do in meantime? It was very expensive and unique collectors item. I really want it. I keep checking the Fedex app hoping it’s all a mistake and they actually shipped the item.

It was just accidentally scanned Delivered. It's still on its way. Unfortunately, you won't be able to report Item Not Delivered now if it actually goes astray.

The other poster suggested what I agree is likely to have happened. Your package was accidentally scanned as delivered instead of accepted at the post office. It is still in transit to you and you should be able to follow the tracking yourself by going to your purchase history where you will find that info. You were premature in opening an Item Not Received case. Keep in mind that a buyer has 30 days from the expected delivery date to open a case. So you are always covered by eBay.
You are right that insurance is for the benefit of the seller, not the buyer, but I am sure your seller was trying to assure you that it had indeed been shipped and is in transit. If you need additional reassurance, you can also go to the carrier's website where you can set up text or email updates for the tracking number. Then anytime there is movement of the package, you will receive the text or email notification.

If ebay rules in the sellers favor because tracking shows delivery then you will need to appeal.
The best way to appeal is to get a letter from the postal service stating that the package was delivered to the address on the shipping label BUT not to your address.
Then contact cs on social media to appeal
Contact customer service by sending a private message on social media. You leave a message and an eBay employee will get back to you as soon as possible. To speed things up you can leave your registered account information in the PRIVATE message: Full name, address,phone number, email address, user ID and a brief explanation of your problem.

ok, I have the FedEx app,that let’s me see anything that is being shipped to my address nd this shipment doesn’t shoe. I also checked UPS and USPS. Both will, show upcoming deliveries . So this doesn’t show.
I tried to talk to the seller. Even if it was scanned accidentally, the seller would have gotten an expected delivery date. Nothing from the seller.
I have to wait until 6/9 before asking escalating to eBay. I want to give it the benefit of the doubt. I may allow few days after. So that it has full week to get to me.

Don't trust the apps or eBay when viewing tracking. If this was shipped FedEx, go to the FedEx website and put the tracking number it. You should see all the information on the shipment's progress. Same with USPS or UPS.
eBay's system has poor design for tracking and stops retrieving the information as soon as it sees a delivered scan. If the item was accidentally scanned as delivered you won't see it anymore on eBay's tracking system.

Yes, I see that now. I decided to call FedEx and ask about tracking. They found a duplicate entry that showed item in transit. I kept refreshing the app but needed to use the website. Once I typed the tracking number in the feEx website , it showed see the delivery in progress.
item received today. All’s well.

Rather than this being a scam it is more likely a mistake on the postal employee's part of having the scanner set incorrectly.
