This from several years ago. I'm having exact same issues!
For the past few hours I've been trying to purchase an item with an eBay gift card I bought. Now, when I go to checkout, and type my gift card's code, the amount says it's applied (even the order total appears as $0.00), but when I click on "Confirm and pay", the site displays a message saying "Please check your payment details or use a different payment option.". I purchased a gift card because I don't use Paypal. I tried looking for solutions in other forums (most were from a couple of years ago) and many people were having the same problem as me. Some suggested to select Paypal as the payment option, log in to a Paypal account, and then type the gift card's code, but it didn't work for me. Another person suggested creating a new eBay account and using the gift card with that account, but since eBay's recent policies on security measures, I can't purchase anything because of a "buying limit" and because the account doesn't have any feedback. I have checked the card's balance and it's still intact. Has anyone else who experienced this issue found a solution (aside of these) for this problem?
