Same description in different listing

Hello

I bought a laptop yesterday from a new seller, it had a pretty good description in the listing, and today someone else has the same description.Can they lie to me? Have you experienced a similar case?The seller has added a tracking number, but has not shipped yet.

Have you considered the possibility that someone copied someone else's description?

Not sure what difference it makes, I think this happens quite often.  Your only concern at this point is receiving what you bought.  And you have the MBG in case there is a problem.

In eBay's policies using another seller's description and/or images is allowed. 

Today is a federal holiday the PO is closed. Yesturday was Sunday PO also closed.

Explains why the seller hasn't shipped yet.

I considered copying yes, but I doubted it because they are both registered on eBay the same day(15-16jan).

I will wait for the item of course, but I think it is something new scam.

Some sellers do copy descriptions from other seller's listings.  They shouldn't but doing that does not violate ebay's policies.

Yesterday was Sunday so a seller could not ship the laptop, Today is MLK day, and is a Postal holiday so they may not be able to ship today if they use USPS for shipping.  When a seller prints out a shipping label the tracking number is automatically uploaded to the item.   If the seller has not sold before, chances are good that they do not know about the 21 day hold ebay places on all new sellers first few payments.  If they are unaware of it they may not ship the laptop because on their account page the Payment status will show Pending, so they will not ship because of that.  It is a very common issue with new sellers.  If the traing hasn't updated by Wednesday, contact your seller and tell  them to do an online search for "Payments on hold - ebay".  Then they will get the info needed to complete the sale and get the funds released.

the descriptions are similar but are not the same.

when two sellers are both selling the same item they are bound to have similar descriptions

take for instance "round white golf ball"

I am sure someone just looked it up and borrowed the description and changed it a tad

as you mentioned it, maybe the  seller is trying to off load them under similar accounts

New sellers have "selling limits" which often will result in not being able to sell such items due to price on the same day they registered.  Was this item posted at a price that was basically "too good to be true" or WAY below the going price for others of the same model?  

In what country was the seller located?  Keep an eye on this one, and make note of the "last estimated delivery date" in your purchase history in case it doesn't arrive, or eBay removes the listing.

It doesn't matter if 2 sellers have the same description as long as the description is accurate.

There's a good possibility that the similarity is because both listings paraphrased the marketing descriptions that came with the product. I was a marketing writer for 35 years, and the last part of each description just screams marketing-speak.

Here is another questionable issue, As it was in the listing , it should have been in Kenosha, but now it is in Sacramento ,I will wait for the item, but something is strange . My address is in Wilmington, Delaware

I once had a package going from Dallas to Ft Worth routed through Puerto Rico. So strange things have been known to happen with USPS. You really don't need to worry unless tracking shows delivered somewhere other than your address.

I bought laptop on January 15th, But I didn t get it, because the seller is scammer,he sent the package to the wrong name and address,I asked the seller to add a signature feature, he agreed, but then he didn't do that,Because he specifically sent it to the wrong address, I have investigated that he is a fraud, he has several fraudulent accounts on ebay ,(has similar items and same description and same prices) , .The carrier delivered package wrong address , that is missent package , I opened the usps case and they tell me that-- According to the tracking information and the picture of the item that we were able to pull there is a different name and address on this package but this package was delivered to the correct location we recommend that you contact the sender for more information , I sent the seller message but no response ,
