Sales Tax Rip Off

OK. The Feds recently created the problem with sales tax but eBay doesn't have to make things worse.

The true purchase price is no longer revealed until you win your bid. Sellers are allowed to add on a seemingly arbitrary amount and call it sales tax. Who knows where that money goes?

Ebay should require sellers to disclose if they are going to add sales tax in the listing. Until then my first choice will be Hong Kong and China for all buying.

Re: Sales Tax Rip Off

If the listing is set to charge sales tax, the percentage and state will be listed on the shipping and payments tab of the listing.

Re: Sales Tax Rip Off

Are you aware that many overseas sellers also charge "sales tax", even though they get to keep it all themselves?  I've seen it as high as 40%.

Most sellers who operate a business have no choice but to collect sales tax.  You would find it on my listings, however, I do state in my description how much I charge and my state.  Only my state residents have to pay it.
