I went to bid on an item, but got this message: "You are unable to purchase this item due to restrictions from the seller. Please contact the seller for more information."
I have 269 positive feedbacks and no negative ones. I pay fast. I have never had dealings with this seller. I did contact the seller. just now. In the meantime, what could be the problem?

The seller may have blocked you for some reason

Living up to the name benchmark, of course as a buyer you have no negative feedback.
But the ones you have left might make sellers skittish of doing business with you.

buyers can not get negative feedback so the 269 feedback doesnt mean squat. the flipside is you have an itchy trigger finger for leaving negs and neutrals as a buyer. smart sellers try to eliminate the chance for problems before they occur. block list is the only line of defense for a seller.

Those feedbacks your leaving harm sellers. Also makes you look fussy and hard to please. That is why your being blocked.

If you are restricted from bidding or buying it means the seller has blocked you. If you have two or more unpaid item claims in the past twelve months that is a site preference used by many sellers. The only other site preference restriction generally used by sellers is the shipping location. Sellers can block bidders for any reason and they don't have to explain. They may have read and not liked the feedback comments you have left for sellers. It's best to move on.

This reminded me of the last recent holidays ► “Dear Santa: I’ve been good all year. OK, maybe most of the time…. Well, perhaps once in awhile… Oh, never mind, I’ll buy my own presents this year."...end of shared quote.

You seriously left a neg for a seller sending harmless religious material? Ohh you're not going to the good place...

This happened to me. The reason was because I was using a VPN when I tried to place the order and they blocked the order thinking it was fraudulent. I had Ebay customer service call me and they explained that because a different IP address was in use, they blocked the order to protect the account. They removed the block while I was on the phone with them. After the explanation, my frustration with Ebay turned to being thankful for them looking out for me.

Can you explain why I have been blocked? I have not received any explanations on this. I have purchased stamps several times from them in the past. Plus, what needs to be done to remove these restrictions? Thanks for your help.
