Received wrong item through eBay’s authenticity system

I ordered the brown/white color way of the 550 new balance ALD’s, but I received the wrong color (purple/white), it went through eBay’s authenticity guarantee system. The seller won’t let me return and eBay closed the case on me. What do I do?

The authenticators are supposed to not only check the authenticity of the item, they're supposed to also verify that it's as described in the listing. Sadly that sometimes doesn't happen. One of the flaws of eBay's authenticity programs is that eBay refuses to believe their authenticators came make a mistake, so unless the seller accepts returns eBay considers authenticated items to be final sales, thus not eligible for the Money Back Guarantee.

Rather than spinning your wheels trying to appeal to eBay, your best course of action at this point is to dispute the charge with your credit card.

You would have to repurchase, can't get an exchange, just a refund. If you had been allowed a return on eBay, it would have gone back to the authenticator with a free return label then back to the seller for your refund.

Now if you paid with PayPal you could file another return request here for Significantly Not As Described. Then when you're told to send the item back you would have to pay return postage yourself to get your refund.

Otherwise @ngu_364424 file a Not As Described chargeback with your card issuer, and provide your photos to get you refund. In a chargeback, the merchant pays for return shipping if they want the merchandise back.

@ngu_364424,

You can try to appeal the original decision and when you do ask the rep who looks at it to check your order and add photos of the shoes and box if it has a sticker saying Purple/White or giving a different manufacturer's part or item number for that color combination.

Unfortunately, what kathiec wrote about authenticator's being considered infallible by ebay, may be true and they will deny the appeal. Then you would have to seek resolution through another means. What ebay doesn't seem to get is, Now two buyers have received the wrong item, which could lead to both of them not purchasing items that have to be sent to the authenticator any longer.

They are playing games with you. File a chargeback with your credit card co. I would skip Paypal, they are worse than ebay. Also, do not file both at the same time, only one at a time, if you do want to try paypal.

I would not do a chargeback unless exhausting other options. Every chargeback you file is recorded and will follow you for life. Use them

sparingly and with merit. Contact eBay and explain what happened.

When Ebay bought  a  authenticator  service  for inhouse  use  and asking the seller's to ship it to that company's Wearhouse  . I my issue was  the risk of accidental  mix-up  of seller's items .And well they did it twice  with  two buyers that got the wrong item's  so far . with so may listings it will increase  if it isn't fixed .

eBay just stated my card I sold was not authentic I have been buying and selling sports cards for 48 years I know the history of this card i absolutely do not aged with their decision, they will not even state why this decision was made. What credentials do the individuals have who decide this .

I see so many items that are counterfeit being sold on eBay and I do have the credentials to make this statement and I could also state why they are counterfeit.
