Question about shipping

So I ordered a game off of eBay and in the description the seller said it would be shipped with USPS First Class but then it says after being sent the tracking number it is being sent via USPS Media Mail. I also don’t think video games are allowed to be shipped via Media Mail. Should I do anything about this?

"In conclusion, video games, whether on CD-ROM, diskettes, or similar software, regardless of form, or playable systems including computers, do not meet the standards for Media Mail."

The seller didn't honor their shipping method.

Should you do anything about this? That depends how much time and energy you want to spend reporting this to USPS, ebay, etc.

Re: Question about shipping

Media mail is slow boat to China compared to first class. Even avoiding the fact that the item does not qualify.

The game may have exceeded the weight limit for media mail. This USPS link may help answer the media mail vs. 1st class question. If you paid more than the actual postage, maybe contact the seller and request a refund for the difference. Unless the seller is charging a flat rate for shipping regardless of which service is used. But if that isn't specified, you can request the refund.

Today I will not judge.

Re: Question about shipping

You are being corrected. All USPS service/products have tracking except First Class Mail letters and flats.

No. Media Mail weight limit is 70 pounds. First Class Package weight limit is 15.99oz

The seller has an obligation to ship the item as described in the listing. He was wrong to change it. You can let your feelings be known in Feedback, and in the Detailed Seller Rating star for Shipping. (But I would wait until the item arrives before leaving any feedback.) You can contact eBay to register a complaint. If the actual shipping costs varies my much, you can contact the seller for a refund of the difference, like another poster recommended.

Re: Question about shipping

Sellers are required to ship with the advertised shipping service.  You can print labels for First Class mail up to 16 ounces on eBay.  I don't know why your seller would use media mail unless for some reason it weighed more than 1 pound.   I'm surprised because Media Mail costs more than First Class for lightweight packages.  That's why if I'm shipping lightweight books I'd rather use First Class as it's cheaper and faster.  I have mailed many video games in the past and single games don't weigh that much.    The only ones that weigh more are those specialized games sets.  Nonetheless, you can't use media mail for video games.  If USPS inspects the package it's possible it could arrive postage due as well.  IN know some sellers don't realize that they have to use the listed shipping service.  I had a seller charge me for Expedited  Priority mail and then shipped my item First Class.   I contacted her and after some back and forth messages she refunded me the difference. However she seemed to think that she had the right to choose the shipping service despite what she advertise or the  buyer paid.  This was not a newbie seller either.

Re: Question about shipping

If you print your labels on eBay tracking is included with Media Mail.  To further clarify tracking is available on all labels printed on eBay.

@trehar_4  Tracking is automatically included with all USPS package postage, both online and retail.

Re: Question about shipping

Good to know as I have never gone to the Post Office to buy postage for parcels.  I print all my labels online.
