Question about canceling a purchase

I bought a cordless phone but I couldn't find the model I wanted because of the search results.

Well, I decided to look again and this time, I got different results and found the model I wanted.

So, I was going to cancel the purchase but I don't want to screw the seller up as it's not her/his fault I changed my mind.

So, my question is, if I cancel it, does the auction go back up the way it was or does the seller have to relist everything? If so, I'm not going to cancel.

Thanks and I would appreciate a quick reply because I want to do this before they ship it.

Question about canceling a purchase

If it was an auction, and you cancel the seller could offer the second bidder the item. If declined then yes, it would have to start all over.

Question about canceling a purchase

If you've gone past the time limit given when the buyer can cancel (one hour?), then you will need to ask the seller to cancel.  Please be aware that he isn't required to do so.

Question about canceling a purchase

Well, it's been more than an hour so I wrote to the seller to see what options I have. Told her/him that if there's gonna be a pain for him/her, not to bother.

Thanks

George

Hopefully the seller is willing to help, you have a very good attitude towards this, I commend you for that.

Question about canceling a purchase

If you placed an order for an item being sold in a fixed price listing you can contact the seller and request that he cancel the transaction.  However, sellers are not required to agree.

If you placed a bid on an item being sold at auction, you can ask the seller to cancel your bid before the auction closes.  Once again, the seller is not required to do so.  Based on your original post, you do not have a valid reason to retract your bid and, although eBay has made it nearly impossible to report an invalid bit retraction, I believe that they still class them as policy violations.

Of course, if the auction has ended with you as the winner there is no bid to cancel or retract and the same procedure as I mentioned for fixed price listings would apply.  Naturally, sellers still have the final decision on whether to agree to the cancellation or not.
