Why am I looking at plants for $1,000-4,000 that I paid $20 three years ago?

Never consider an item's price as reasonable, always do your own research before you commit to buy
Could be on eBay, some sellers likely hope, their fishing for a sucker is successful

Thats a question that I wager none of can answer, let alone understand.

I don't know.
Why?

It's the pandemic. Shortages of everything.

They grew?
There are significant differences between what you bought and what you are looking at?
The demand grew and/or the supply shrunk?
You got a really really good deal?
The seller is out of stock and rather than remove the listing raised the price to what nobody in his/her right mind would pay?
I don't know, why ARE you looking?

Good question. Yours died, and you're replacing them? Have you checked with Lowe's? They guarantee theirs.

Probably place-holder listings with prices raised so they won't sell. Not sure why they don't use the out of stock option, though.
Anyway, I see booksellers do that on Amazon once in a while.

I believe there are shortages but not of this plant. It is neither rare or endangered and there's plenty of listings on eBay. I think it is pure, unadulterated greed.

Plant died. I would like to replace it but I'm not about to pay those prices, especially for a plant with only two leaves on it I believe there are shortages because of the pandemic but not of this plant. It is neither rare nor endangered and there's plenty of listings on eBay. I think it is pure, unadulterated greed.t.

It was the research that brought up the question. You may be right about fishing for a sucker As for blaming the pandemic, who could even afford that price? I believe there are shortages but not of this plant. It is neither rare nor endangered and there's plenty of listings on eBay. I think it is pure, unadulterated greed.

Yes, mine died. Doing my research is how the question arose. I believe there are shortages o to the pandemic but not of this plant. It is neither rare nor endangered, and there's plenty of listings on eBay. I think it is pure, unadulterated greed.

Interesting thought however; all of the sellers have exorbitant prices for this particular plant. I believe it took one seller then the others followed suit. I believe there are shortages due to the pandemic but not of this plant. It is neither rare nor endangered and there's plenty of listings on eBay. I think it is pure, unadulterated greed.
