Before anyone gets on my case that the answer is all over the web, here's what I want to do. I travel around a lot, and view sellers from various countries. I always want to see prices in U.S. dollars. Sometimes it displays correctly, sometimes it doesn't. The only option to change currency display is to "Convert prices to ...." and the current country. Is there a way to do this for another currency?
Comment: Why isn't there simply a button on the search page to "Change Currency"? Why are there so many steps?

I believe that the currency shows as that of the country where you are registered. If you look at an item listed on a different site, you should see the price in the sites currency and the price converted to the currency of the site that you are registered on.

Well that's certainly not the case. I'm registered in the U.S. but I see results in local currency. For example, I've been in Thailand for 9 months and sometimes the prices are in Thai baht and sometimes in U.S. dollars. I was looking at one item and it was displayed in Canadian dollars. If I follow the instructions posted around the web to change this the only option I am given is to display prices in Thai baht. It seems illogical to me that I can't just set a currency in my preferences and have it override everything else, or at least give me the opportunity to see the current results in a different currency with a simple button on the results page.

I was under the impression that if the item was listed on a specific site it had to be listed in the currency used for that site, but if the buyer were viewing it through their site, while showing the original currency, a conversion to the buyer's currency would also be given. Interesting!

Canadian seller here.
If I list on dotCA, selling into the USA (and internationally) , Search will show my listings in the national currency (US dollars, euros, baht, pounds sterling).
When the customers opens a listing, it will show in Canadian loonies, AND in the approximate local currency.
If I list on dotCOM, same thing. Search on dotCOM will show in U$ (or euros or baht etc) but the actual opened listing will show in US dollars and the local currency.
However, it is pretty easy for the site to slip over to another site. So what may be happening is you look at something listed on dotDE (Germany and in euros as well as your local currency) then the next item you look at is ALSO on dotDE, although you think you are still on your local site.
We get a lot of confused Americans trying to figure out why all the listings they are looking at are suddenly in loonies. Some get quite upset and have to be soothed with a cup of tea and a Nanaimo Bar.

DEAD! Hahahaha!
But seriously, thank you for the answer. Could not figure out why one browser was showing me USD (I'm in Ireland), while another was showing me EUR. Totally forgot to check the domain.
PS: had Nanaimo Bars in Seattle. SO good!
