Thanks to the person who outbid me on a Lenovo GOA1017OUL .
I got a new sealed version for less with proceeds going to charity.

Awesome! 👍
Don't you love it when things work out even better the second time around?! Things of this nature has happened to me a few times as well.
Happy for you!

Be aware that it is NOT safe to commit to the new listing until the first auction ends without you as the winner. Your bid is active until then and can win the auction (if the higher bid is cancelled before the end) and you would be obligated to pay in that case.
Don't be in a hurry to bid. If you have time to shop around further before the auction ends, you have time to wait until after you do so to place your bid. Keep your options open and don't use up your limits.

It is always nice when you lose an auction to find a better item for less. However, as woodland_gnome wrote, if the other auction has not ended yet, you could be on the hook for the first item, if a bid gets retracted by a bidder or cancelled by the seller.

This has happened to me numerous times. It's how I learned not to be upset when an auction gets sniped from me. I always end up not only finding the same item, but for less money. That's part of the fun of eBay and why being patient is so important. There will always be someone else with the same item eventually....
