Hi all,
As a seller and buyer on eBay since the early 2000s, I was very conflicted about leaving my first negative feedback for a seller. Especially because I know how hard we as sellers work for our 100% feedback and ratings. However, this seller, I felt, deserved it. I made a purchase for items but ended up receiving refunds via Item Not Received cases, so of course, I am disappointed and also unhappy with the customer service.
I purchased 2 items from a seller who made an account in 2018. She/he had had 1 feedback but I figured I would give her a chance. I made my purchase in early April and it said it would take 5 business days to ship once payment cleared. Well, that date would have been April 15th. Even with COVID going on, that doesn't excuse the fact that I got no communication about when and why the item hadn't been shipped by April 22, which was the date that ebay gave as a estimated delivery date.
So on 4/22, I sent the seller a message and no response. I messaged Ebay for advice, but they automatically opened an Item not received case. That was not my intention, but they did it for both items. So INR cases were opened. Seller responds to one of my INR cases and was combative and highly defensive. Apologizes for shipping delay and "will ship out in 24 hours." Not very apologetic or friendly; blamed the delays on COVID-19, even though I, as a seller, know that there are very little delays with MY shipments even in the last few months, anyway. She claims she was shipping domestically and the products were made in the USA.
I responded and asked why no communication for 2 weeks and She responds: "Your item has been shipped and we can't issue a refund." Okay. I still tell her her lack of communication was no way to do business and she accuses me of lying, basically: "We've been in constant contact with all our customers." Actually, you only responded when an INR case was opened. Never to my ebay messages--I attempted to contact seller first before contacting ebay.
2 days later, she issues a refund with no message. Okay. But it was a partial refund for 1 item, not both. I wait. I send her a message on the other INR case for the 2nd item that EBAY opened on my behalf. She does not respond. Ebay steps in after 3rd business day.
Ebay decides case in my favor. I get a refund for 2nd item.
I thought about it for over a week since I received the refunds--should I leave negative feedback or just leave it alone? Very conflicted, but finally I did it. I felt that other buyers should be warned. This seller even tried to twist things and say I was "making false accusations" when nothing of that nature was happening. She did nothing to correct the problem and I was very disappointed by her lack of customer service and thus left this person negative feedback.
-I know that sellers CANNOT leave neg feedback for buyer in retaliation. I still feel that she will strike back at me somehow. Tell me I am just being silly! 🙂
-I have this person blocked so they cannot pull any shenanigans. I feel BAD but she does have another neg. feedback stating how late the shipment was. Dishonest seller all around and not good with communication or customer service. I ask myself, why the heck do I feel bad?
Any thoughts? Thanks. Happy Friday, Ebay.

It must be on a different ID... I couldn't see how bad it looked. If you felt the need, I'm all for it... I've never left one, either, but would feel justified if I did.
We can't see it to tell if it will be removed... but you did your part. Stop worrying about this. Stay well!

Yes, I am sorry. I use this ID for forums only. I did not disclose that in the beginning.
I feel bad, yet justified, you're right. (I only feel bad because I'd hate to get dinged myself, but then again, I know as a seller what my responsibilities are...and always describe things accurately, and always ship on time). I am a top rated seller not that it means a thing, but that's how many transactions I've made/$ amount in the last year I have made in sales.
If it gets removed, fine. But I think she has a lot of trouble coming for her because of all the lack of communication and poor customer service. She sold 100+ of these items and if they are all coming late or if there are INR cases against her, her selling record is screwed.
Thanks for the reassurance--I am toasting to all of you this Friday night with a glass of wine. You stay well and healthy too. Take care! 🙂

High expectations - results in disappointment
When you make frequent purchases on eBay you come to expect having some encounters with sellers that ship past the estimated delivery date, do not advise tracking numbers, do not respond to communications, sometimes cancel transactions, downgrade shipping, package poorly causing item damage, have failed to disclose item damage in the listing, have lied in the description, etc
